2d Object with 2 elevations and 1 plan into 3d

Hi,

 

I'm quite new to 3d objects but fairly familiar with 2d.

 

I have an object with 2 side elevations and 1 plan elevation and I would like to turn it into 3d, however due to the various curves on front and side I am stuggling a little as to what tools to use as I've played around with the extrude command which is fine for one side elevation and plan view but I need to also incorporate the front elevation which has its own curves.

 

I have attached the elevations and plan as an image, so if anyone can give me some suggestions on how to achieve this it would be greatly appreciated.

You should look at the extrude and interfere commands. Extrude Both side views, possition them correctly to each other. The extrude the top view down/up. Align This to the other two Solids. Finally, use the interfere command to get the combined (overlapping) solid of the three ' viewing solids'.. Nice speaker btw ;-)

Thanks Halam, it sounds like the interfere command is what I am missing - I'll investigate :)

 

PS Just noticed the order of the elevations and plans appear to be a mix of first angle and third angle oops! Front of speaker is the flat side. Yes they are nice speakers and not the cheapest! ;)

You don't really need the Top View - All you need is both side and front view

 

1- Place each view to a correct UCS then use the "Extrude" Command

2- (Extrude speaker body in - direction and speakers cylinders in + direction)

3- Use Command "Union" and select the Speaker Body & Blocks under the body

(Do not select the speaker cylinders)

4- Move one solid over the other and make sure they perfectly intersect

5- Use Command "Intersect" then select both solids (at this point you should have your model)

If you wish to go further then use commands below

6- Use Command "_solidedit" "Shell" and give it a thickness

7- Use Command "Move" and place the Speaker cylinders over the shell model

(you can use your snap F8 and select "end point" to be precise

8- Subtract cylinders from your final model
