Back Up Files

hi

can anyone help. I have lost my back up files location in my folders, I am using windows 10

it not showing Autocad it gone to word for some reason.

how can I get back to default.

you right click on backup file, go properties, it gives options of apps to use to open file.

where is back-up file location in Autocad folder. or is there other way

By default, back-up files are stored in the same folder as the .dwg. You cannot open the .bak file directly. The file extension needs to be changed to .dwg.

Will the .BAK file extension even be displayed in Win10 by default?

 

Hi ReMark; Not sure about Autocad now using Draftsight (free version) and it puts the back file by default. Lost my old AutocadLT 2000 when my daughter gave me a new computer.

That wasn't what I was asking. Windows, by default, will not display certain file type extensions unless the user actively changes a particular Windows setting. The file types can spread across many different programs.
