Dadgad
In Autocad, go into OPTIONS, and on the FILES tab, click on the Automatic Save File Location, to see where they are being saved.
RobDraw
By default, back-up files are stored in the same folder as the .dwg. You cannot open the .bak file directly. The file extension needs to be changed to .dwg.
ReMark
Will the .BAK file extension even be displayed in Win10 by default?
welldriller
Will the .BAK file extension even be displayed in Win10 by default? Hi ReMark; Not sure about Autocad now using Draftsight (free version) and it puts the back file by default. Lost my old AutocadLT 2000 when my daughter gave me a new computer. ReMark
That wasn't what I was asking. Windows, by default, will not display certain file type extensions unless the user actively changes a particular Windows setting. The file types can spread across many different programs. BIGAL
actively changes a particular Windows setting Maybe older win 7 etc "Hide extensions for known files types", have 10 at home will have a look for baks.
