I'm using AutoCAD 2008 and sometimes when I turn a layer off on an x-ref or freeze it the command line says it is off but it is still visable. Why won't it go away? This does not happen in all my drawings.

Open the Xref and shut the layer off while in that current model state.

Had this issue the other day.

It appears that you need to use the turn layer off command in the express layers toolbar.

Just select the item in the xref as if it were a part of the drawing you're using and not an xref - it should only turn that layer off and not the whole xref.

Please report back with your findings.

I have tried all of the ideas I have been given but none of them have worked.

the funny things, is that when I think of REGEN I automatically assume REGENALL, thats why I just said REGEN in my previous post. OP could've had a quicker solution if I would have just used the right words...
