cvriv.charles Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 First,... How do I draw a rectangle, circle, etc using the rectangle, circle, etc tool on the Z axis?!?! I tried the line tool and it lets me draw on all axis's depending how I have the cursor. With the shape tools it seems to keep me on the X and Y. Also,... if I draw any kind of closed 2D shape using the line tool, how do I give it a face? What if I draw a closed 3D shape using the line tool, how do I convert it to a solid so it has a faces? Thanks. I'll have more questions later I'm sure. Quote
RichterGMC Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 I can answer one, for the closed 2D shape, use the HATCH command. Quote
Strix Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 please don't ask multiple questions in one thread  it gets very messy trying to follow which advice applies to what part of your question once the discussion gets going, and you're stopping the search facility from working correctly besides - your 3D question will be best answered by people who USE 3D, and funnily enough, they're usually found lurking about in the 3D part of the forum Quote
cvriv.charles Posted February 21, 2009 Author Posted February 21, 2009 Sorry. Most forums don't want the users opening up multiple threads. Considered flooding. Quote

You will need to orient your UCS prior to drawing the shape. Circles, rectangles, etc. are always drawn in the X,Y plane, so you will need to rotate your UCS around the X or Y axis in order to draw them at 90 degrees to your current X,Y plane. Or you can use the ROTATE3D command to rotate the object after you draw it. Also,... if I draw any kind of closed 2D shape using the line tool, how do I give it a face? Use the REGION command. What if I draw a closed 3D shape using the line tool, how do I convert it to a solid so it has a faces? You will have to be more specific. What do you mean when you say "if I draw a closed 3D shape"? Thanks. I'll have more questions later I'm sure. Just be sure to ask each question in it's own thread please. We don't mind you asking lots of questions, we just don't like having all the questions in one thread. Quote
