Hey there I've been working heavily in 3D and one minor inconvenience is that when I switch to any of the preset Isometric views the Z-axiz is covered by 45 degrees. I end up using 3D orbit to get an obscure angle so I can get the tracking to show the Z direction.

Is there a way to tell Acad you only want to go in the Z-axis, mid-command?

It's generally always on, unless I'm pasting something in.

What about isometric snap in your snap settings

or define your own ucs.. command line version type ucs then 3p and follow the prompts for x and y directions

Well I could do that and I have, but I was looking for something mid-command.

I tried turning Dynamic UCS off and was able to differentiate between Z axis or 45 by alternating which side of the potential line I was on (This will most likely be my solution).

Edit: I take that back, it works for the line command, however not with MEP piping.

I hadn't thought Iso snap was useful in 3D but I will give it a whirl next time.
