In Use or Read Only

LT2011 Student Version. No problems for a month...

Today my drawing when open informs me that it is either in use, or read only, neither of which is true. I am also now, getting an error message when trying to save changes in any drawing..."You do not have permission to save to this location. Contact your administrator to obtain permission" Any help from you angels?

It sounds like a "permissions" issue. You should be running your computer as "Administrator".

Are you at school / college when you get these messages?

Sounds like your trying to save to a restricted area on the network. Make sure you're saving in the folder set up for you on the students area of the network, or to a USB memory stick.

Read only, doesn't sound like a problem. Can you open the read only *.dwg file?

If yes, you would need to save with a different name.

Or, as bonehead411 said, a USB memory stick.

My old computer teacher used to have the lab set-up with magnetized heads on the disk drives.. to prevent students from loading programs from floppy disk. Nasty old scenario that instantly erased your data.
