moz-screenshot.jpgThis is a screen capture of an Autocad drawing which is composed of a jpeg background with palette based symbols placed upon it.

All I want to do is to plot the jolly thing but no matter what I do it refused to plot the symbols - only the jpeg background image is plotted.

Any ideas?

Is the symbol layer set to no-plot?

What colour are you using on the symbols? White may turn out black when printing.

Draw order? Click the jpg and choose send to back.

Hello Slaraffenmann,

The symbol layer could be set to no-plot but I can't see how to discern whether it is or not. Within the layers dropdown that option doesn't show itself and I don't know where else to look.

I have sent the background image to the back yes.

It could as you say be a black/white issue; is thee any easy way to tell it to invert the colours?

type LAYER to acess the LAyer manager, you'll see columns at the top and one of those is the Plot-column, a little printer as a symbol. If that printer is crossed over, the layer will not plot.

Easiest way to get the right color in my book; highlight the object and change color.

Hello Tiger,

I've established that it is plotting the symbols as black - this irrespective of the colour I make the symbols. BTW I'm printing to MS Document Image Writer because I want to e-mail the drawing not print it. I seem to need to tell the printer to invert the symbols. Any ideas?

Look into what Plot Style you use - in the Plot dialogue box you can (if it isn't that already) expand it at the arrow at the bottom right. THen look through the Plot Style that is set and see what each color is plotted as.

Also I would recommend to plot to a PDF instead of an image, a better format in my opinon. THere is a built in DWG-to-PDF writer in AutoCAD.

Thanks Tiger,

I have managed to print something useful! I found that by selecting 'Plot with plot styles' and setting the symbol colour to white it works!! Yipee. Thanks a lot for all of your help.

At first I thought this might be similar to my problem with Map3D 2008, but it's not. I'll try to describe it in a new thread, watch this space...
