Jpier Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 I am trying to enter the names of rooms on a floorplan I am working on. I type in text or dtext on the command line. Then I select where the text is to go. The height is already set, so I press enter. The rotation angle is 0 so I press enter again. I type in my text and then hit enter twice. When I hit enter the second time the text disappears. I have done this before with no problem. Why am I having a problem today? Quote
nukecad Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Are you putting it onto a layer that is turned off or invisible? Quote
Jpier Posted October 4, 2010 Author Posted October 4, 2010 I tried printing on the object layer where I had all of the walls drawn, so they were obviously visible, but I still can't get my text to appear after I hit enter twice. It is there after I strike enter the first time, but the second enter makes it disappear Help~ Quote
ReMark Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 What size is this mysteriously disappearing text? Are you drawing your model space objects full size as recommended? Quote
Jimmy Tin Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Check what size your annotation text is.....depending on how you scaling your drawing the annotation may be extremely small or large. This could cause the text to "disappear" after the final enter. Quote
Jpier Posted October 5, 2010 Author Posted October 5, 2010 I appreciate everyone's input. All of my layers are 'on' and I tried typing on the 'object' layer that was obviously 'on' and nothing happened. As far as the size of the text, I had it set at .8 which is what I always use. I tried zooming in and did not see anything and I tried zoom to extents and it did not help. I am sure it is something basic, but I am lost. This will probably confuse things, but there was a message above the command window which read: Current text style: NOTES Text Height: 3.000 Annotative: yes I did not set up a style named NOTES, so I do not know where that came from Quote
Jpier Posted October 5, 2010 Author Posted October 5, 2010 Just another note, when I opened the drawing this morning I got a splash screen which read: Select Annotation Scale: You are selecting an annotative object. Set the annotation scale to the scale At which the annotation is intended to display. 1:1 Can anyone point me to what this is talking about? I thought you always entered measurements at a 1:1 scale. Long story, but I am not intending on printing this drawing out at this time? Also, I opend a drawing I had worked on previously and there was no problem entering and reading text. Quote
Jpier Posted October 5, 2010 Author Posted October 5, 2010 I amm still confused bsed upon my two statements above, but apparently it is an issue of my text being too small to view unless I really zoom in. Again, I don't understand why it got so small. But thanks for everyone's help so far Quote
eldon Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 This may be a reminder that the command window gives useful information. Whenever Dtext is started, it always gives the current textstyle and height, so perhaps you did not notice it before Quote
ReMark Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Was it your intention from the very beginning to use Annotative Scaling for your text? Yes/No? Quote
qball Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 also, that text is probably on the screen and though it may not appear on your final print, you may want to erase it, or change the style. If you use the Find command it will zoom into the text, then you can hit Done and erase or change (so you don't have to re-type) Quote
Jpier Posted October 7, 2010 Author Posted October 7, 2010 Frankly, I am not familiar wit the different styles of text yet,, except single line text and multiline text. It appears my test was too small and i have been able to address the issue. Thanks again for your help Quote
