Guest aror Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 I'm curious if it is possible to plot points (or a PLine, or a mesh) in AutoCAD from a table of values in EXCEL (columns of x,y,z coordinates). Thanks Quote
gcp310 Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 Yes you can, a few years back i came across a webpage that showed a way of formatting an excel sheet for data entry, then a simple cut and paste onto the command line enabled autocad to insert points to the correct x,y & z locations. I will do a google search and see if i can find it. CadTutor knows the process, maybe he can elaborate it with finer detail. G Quote
gcp310 Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 Heres a discussion threas we prepared earlier ;-) G http://cadtutor.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=346&highlight=excel Quote
Guest aror Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 Thanks a lot G, that was easier than I'd hoped even. The Concatenate() command in excel, and the concept of pasteing text into the CAD command line are both beautiful. Quote
gcp310 Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 Glad to be able to help you out. I have not had a use for it, but it would be handy if you had say gps points or surveying data. It would be great if it it could be tied into a lisp routine to create a mesh for terrain modeling. Welcome to the forum, if no one has said already. G Quote
Guest Flores Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 Here is an example for putting Excel points into ACAD. This file just draws circles in a pattern, but you get an idea of how it works. http://www.geocitiesdotcom/flores_2793@sbcglobaldotnet/Points.xls Replace the word "dot" (used twice) with an actual dot. For whatever reason, geocities wouldn't let me post the url directly. Flores Quote
SLW210 Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Well, seeing as this thread is from 2003, what did you expect. Try a new search. Quote
ReMark Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 khalid: I'm not sure why you decided to post your question inside an unrelated thread but I would suggest that in the future you start a new one. Thank you. Quote
