Deploying AutoCAD - whats your prefferd method for network installs?

Hi all,

We are currently in the process of upgrading to AutoCAD 2012 across our domain. To date almost half our computers have been upgraded. The install is via a network deployment - the deploment is saved to a server and is preconfigured with our license server details & company specific settings.

The install is not silent, as such the user needs to confirm some details before installing. I think a silent install is the way to go but feel the automatic reboots during install are far from ideal

Does anybody else have any thoughts/feedback?

Regards,

Automatic reboot is usually done because of prerequisite installation, such as dotnet framework. So if you install prereq manually, it's unlikely Windows will reboot by itself.

I know silent installation looks very good delivery, but I prefer the otherwise.

If silent installation failed we will not know on which product it failed. I know we can find it on installation log, but it's more comfortable for me if user can inform me on which step it's failed.

@edwinprakoso thanks for your reply. This has been my first venture with deployments and its useful to get insight from others, The feedback provided on install progress is indeed helpful. It does give better control to the user also. So far it has been successful so I might keep going the same way
