Need help with dimjogline

I am thinking you draw it at full length and then "break" but I am unsure how the dimensioning will be effected with this method?

Or do i just draw as shown and "adjust" the dimension to suit the drawing?

I want to learn the correct way so for the future I follow the same rules.

So far as I'm aware dimjogline only adds a break symbol into the dim line. It only effects the graphics not the actual dimension which means you have to draw it full size to get the actual dimension correct (which somewhat defeats the object of introducing break lines) or override the text dimension in the properties box.

You draw your drawing however you want it to be on your layout, then you create a regular dimension to which you add a dimjogline or an express tools BREAK LINE SYMBOL. After you have done that, putting the break wherever you want it to be along the length of the dimension, and as Bogbadbob658 suggested you override the displayed dimension with the actual dimension. In 2012 you can double click on the dimension and override the value without going to the properties palette, which I find very convenient.
