nogborne Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 I am trying to build a 3d model of a flight case and when I subtract the handles from the center of the panel it looses its parametric capabilities. I am able to get around the latches by using the trim tool and than extruding to 3d. Is there anything I can do to allow handles? Quote
nogborne Posted April 29, 2012 Author Posted April 29, 2012 that did not work, im thinking however i could use inventor fusion somehow but i just cant grasp it. the detail looks like i have drawn here using text. im trying to move this latch pocket up and down without having to use move faces tool. I am able to do it if i draw poly lines but once my panel gains thickness and i subtract my latch from the panel im no longer able to manipulate it like i would like. _____________ | | | | |__ | __ | | | | | | |________ ___| Quote
dedmin Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Yes, it is working - just read about solid history, sub object selection, show history and etc. It is not a panacea, but very useful with not so complicated models. Quote
ReMark Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 How does Solidhist solve issues with the loss of parametrics? I don't see the connection. Quote
JD Mather Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 that did not work, im thinking however i could use inventor fusion.... You should be using Inventor rather than Inventor Fusion for this. Solidhist in AutoCAD is very limited in preserving parameters. Inventor Fusion might be a little easier to edit - but does not record a fully parametric history tree. (see free classes here http://au.autodesk.com Kevin Schnieder classes) If you are a student you can get Inventor Professional for free here http://www.autodesk.com/edcommunity Any of these are professional programs and deserve (require?) a professional level of preparation. Attach what you have been able to complete here. Quote
