B_Rich Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Body.iptMy buddy is making his own guitar, and he isn't sure what he wants to do for a round over-type design around the edge, so he drew up the body and gave it to me to see if I can get something on there. Hopefully you can see it well enough, but I'm trying to sweep the triangle profile around the edge of the guitar, but I'm running into a problem. The triangle isn't staying perpendicular with the edge of the guitar... any ideas on how to accomplish this? Here is an example of a guitar that has it done. The chamfered around the edge is what I'm after. The file is attached, along with some screen shots: Quote
B_Rich Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 Hm, I'm not sure if the file got attached.... I don't see it anyway. Quote
B_Rich Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 Well, here's a link to it from my Dropbox that you can download... https://www.dropbox.com/s/0wjkta94avgyfau/Body.ipt Quote
Pablo Ferral Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Did you try clicking on orientation 'path' rather than 'parallel'? Quote
B_Rich Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 I did and got an error. Using parallel was the only way I could even get a sweep to work. Quote
Pablo Ferral Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 The cut sketch needs to be perpendicular to the sweep. The easiest way to do this is to create a sketch point on the sweep line, and create a work plane by point and line. Create your cut sketch on this line. Don't forget to fully constrain your cut sketch! Quote
