Background drawing shift?

Recommended Posts

Oh no another problem. For a beginner I think I'm doing well but once in a while a problem beats me. Now it is this: the background drawing in the front viewport has somehow shifted. It did not shift in the perspective viewport. I shifted the mesh to fit the drawing in the front viewport but that makes it waaaaaay off in the top and perspective viewports. I need to shift the drawing in the front viewport but can't figure that out. How is that done? Thanks.

You will have to provide more information, and possibly some screen shots so I can see what you're doing.

What do you mean by "background drawing"? Are you talking about image planes?

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I guess you would call it the image plane. I have been fiddling around with this thing and the mesh has somehow "fallen back" too its previous position. and is in the correct position. I'm uncertain how that happened, it might have something to do with unfreezing the image and playing around with it. I wish I knew what I did to make it correct. Onward - into the fog! Thanks again.

Ok, sounds like you're back on track.

You may already know this, but for anyone else reading this thread, always make sure to freeze your image planes once you get them set up exactly how you want them. That way you can't accidentally move them. ;)

To freeze an image plane:

1. Select the plane(s) you want to freeze

2. Right click and choose "Object Properties" from the pop up menu. This will open the Object Properties dialog.

3. Go to the "General" tab

4. Under "Display Properties" - Uncheck "Show Frozen in Gray". This will insure that your image planes don't appear gray and faded when frozen. Also - Check "Backface Cull". This will allow you to see through your image plane from the backside.

5. Under "Interactivity" - Check "Freeze"

6. Click "OK" to exit

To Unfreeze your planes:

Right click and select "Unfreeze All" from the pop up menu.

Thanks for the advice. That " background cull" is very helpful.
