I hear whispers that there are some manufacturers or vendors that make 3D models of their wares available for easy placement into Inventor drawings. Specifically, I'm rolling a stand around and need to insert some heavy duty swivel casters with brakes. Can anyone tell me where these are 3D files are stored or do I need to know a secret handshake?

I'll give anyone $1 if they can answer before JD.

Thanks to you both. The problem I have is that when I download the CAD file I am only able to import individual parts .ipt instead of the whole assembly. The particular assembly I am trying to down load is http://www.hamiltoncaster.com/Hamiilton_Caster_Model_Details/PartId/S-BC-5NF.aspx

When I attempt to download into my existing project file the only option Inventor 13 gives me is to download an .ipt.

Reassembling the parts is not that big a deal but I hate not to use a capability that should be available.

Suggestions?

When I just downloaded the file, I got a bunch of .IPT's and an IAM. I opened the IAM and it was all ready to go, all assembled and everything. Not sure what's going on with you?

BTW, I want my dollar now.

Bishop, did you have to unzip the .iam or did it import as is?

Bishop and Dadgad, $1.00 - $0.40 postage = $0.60 - $0.40 USPS packaging = $0.20 - $7.00 travel, per diem, handling and gratuity I figure you each owe me $6.80 which I will split with JD.

Yeah, I unzipped it first.

Okay, as for the $6.80, I bill consulting work at $25.00/hr, minimum billing of 2.0 hours, so .......... :D
