Has anyone run into this problem before? Auto-Cad prints fuzzy lines. Its worse when they are enlarged. Drawings are printing as PDF files. thanks.

PDFs are not known for the quality of their printed image. Perhaps the PDF was sized for a smaller paper than what you are printing to. Have you changed the dpi setting?

In the next release AutoDesk should strip out the ability to plot to a PDF and leave the task to companies that know what they are doing and can guarantee good results when it comes to printing. AutoDesk's inclusion of this feature has been a hack from the beginning.

I do PDF from AutoCAD just fine.

me too, the preview is sometimes fuzzy but the final print can't be bettered.

Not to mention the OP uses AutoCAD 2000, so a third party program is being used.

Judging by the number of threads re: problems with printing a PDF from AutoCAD you guys are in the minority.

What is the number of threads and what is the number plotting to PDF from AutoCAD?

How many solutions involved a setting, operator induced error or problems with a video card, etc?

Do a search. I don't think I need to tell you how to do one.

here's one I did a minute ago, using the AutoCAD DWG To PDF.pc3 driver with my standard plotter ctb settings. If the pdf needs to be better than this I use a different ctb file but I really don't see where the problem is. The lines are a bit heavy when viewed at 800% but they are fine when printed.

Ray: Post a copy of what you are working with. Someone here will conduct a test print and report back the results. If you have used any special settings that we should know about please tell us or provide a screen shot of what they are. Until then we are just guessing at what the problem may be.

I was under the impression you had determined Autodesk to be the problem.

As I already stated, the OP shows AutoCAD 2000 as program, no default DWG to PDF.pc3.

We need to know which one of the many PDF plotters he is using.

I was trying to avoid the argument you were attempting to drag me into. Shall we wait for the OP to respond to our many questions or just slug it out now?

There is no argument, you blamed Autodesk, yet Autodesk has nothing to do with plotting to a PDF in AutoCAD 2000. It is operator error, graphics card or the third party program being used.

I use PrimoPDF at home with 2000i, no problems there either.

Yes, I'll go on record as saying in cases where a user is plotting a PDF from within AutoCAD the program sucks at the job. No third party program is being maligned. Does that meet your specifications for clarity?

We already know that Ray. Can you attach a copy of the drawing file so we can test it ourselves?
