Text, Table, Multileader, Dimension Standards

Hello,

I have run into the mundane task after completing a project and going to review that many stupid mundane things needed to be changed in tables / dimenion's text type's and multileaders.

I have used DWT's in the past and i opened the DWT and spent ~ an hour setting these type profiles than saved the DWT..

Next time i opened the DWT's by adding new layout all the types were gone?

I noticed, when saving if i didnt tell it to "save all layers as reconciled" it purged all non used layers.

Where do i set standard types of Text, Table, Multileader, Dimension it would not appear to be in a DWT?

When adding a Layout by using the "From Template" option, it will only insert the Text/Dim/Multileader/Table styles that are applied and in use for any/all objects on that particular Layout that's being inserted. This is to the best of my knowledge anyways, I haven't actually tested it. This may be it but you'd have to confirm my suspicion.

There has to be a way to have Line Types / Text Type .... Templates maybe its under a different file? I cannot see Autocad making you set this stuff up every time.

Quick And Dirty, make a file.. save it, make it read only, and use it to open and create new drawings with than save as.... Quick and Dirty.. but I want to disseminate a file to other draftsmen to utilize standardized templates... or state a directory for the file and locate it on our server so it automatically updates all the computers upon new file creations.

Best thing to do is to start out with a Template that already has all these items set. We have two working templates. One template that is auto-loaded when you start a session of AutoCAD, then a template for our Titleblocks. Either way the styles are always there. For incoming files, or older files that get resurrected, there are ways to get this info into the drawing. One way is using Design Center, another way is to apply each style to an object, the wrap all the objects as a block. Place this block on a Tool Palette and upon inserting/deleting the block, all the styles come in with it.

Yes i have noticed the types come with copied items. Meh, not the way i intended but i suppose it will do.
