PAPASMIRF Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 AutoCAD 2010. Created a footer for a log home, 30'x37'-4". Footer is 24"x12" w/ 6 rebars. zoomed in to do cross section view of the footer. scaled it up so you could see it and read the dims from the full view. Now my footer is 7'-5" x 3'-8". How do I dim it back to 24"x12". Thanks for your time. Quote
ReMark Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Your footer went from 2'-0"x1'-0" actual size to 7'-5"x3'-8" when scaled? That's kind of an oddball scale factor isn't it? If you want to dimension the scaled up version but you want the dimensions to read correctly you would have to apply a scale factor in your dimension style. However, you made it tougher on yourself when you used a non-standard scale factor. I might have scaled it up by a factor of 4. Gotta take the dog for a walk. I'll check back in about 30 minutes. ReMark Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 (edited) No response? Must mean you got it all figured out. That's good. In the future you might want to consider updating your AutoCAD skills and make use of paper space layouts and viewports. It sounds to me like you are drawing "to scale" just as one would on the drafting board (manually). That old school method is no longer required. Edited May 6, 2013 by ReMark Quote
PAPASMIRF Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 ReMark, having problems with my system. Did you get my response? Quote
ReMark Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 The only response I am aware of is the one shown in post #4. Quote
PAPASMIRF Posted May 7, 2013 Author Posted May 7, 2013 ReMark, Thanks for your help. If I would have given that some thought, it might have come to me. Sometimes I draw before I think. In the process of getting a diploma from TTC but have not found a way to finance what the grant won't cover. Can't even get an entry level position without at least that. Was looking into Penn foster but thanks to you guys I dodged that bullet. Working sun up to sun down on a log home I built for my wife and I. Doesn't leave a lot of time for self study. I think you guys are great for spending so much of your time helping all us amateurs. Penn Foster should send each of you a check every month. Quote
Dadgad Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 For the amount of time ReMark spends doing what the staff there should, and either are incapable of, or refuse to do, he should own the COMPANY. If he did, I would gladly recommend it. Quote
ReMark Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Your kind words are appreciated. Thanks. I'm glad to hear you have decided to stay away from Penn-Foster. I am currently working with a student off-line who has had some difficulty getting responses to emails and phone calls. It is unfortunate people pay good money to learn a program taught by a so-called school that has not kept up with the advances made in AutoCAD and receive little to no useful help. Quote

ReMark Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Since they are students it is the most recent version available at the time. Quote

Dana W Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 what versions (years - plain autocad) do they run/teach with? It is not the version of Cad they use that is the issue, it is the outdated methodology and lesson plans they use. It is as if you went to college history class and found them using a super high tech HD wireless Audio/video system to present a lesson photocopied out of a 1966 text book, which is by the way, the last year the instructor reviewed the class textbook.
