MarkT65 Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 Hi I have a dwg that I need to change the colour of certain areas, they are a mix of blocks and blocks with attributes, if I explode them all the attributes turn into text:( I have tried a few ways but apart from clicking on everything and doing it one by one I cant seem to do it, is there a quicker way,I have attached the dwg and everything outside of the magenta box needs to be grey while keeping the colour under the box. Could someone please let me know the best way to do this?. The file is 5.5 mb and :(wont upload Thanks Mark Quote
ReMark Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 Strip out everything but one of these blocks, save the drawing under a new name and attach a copy of the DWG file to your next post. Someone here will take a look at it. Quote
RobDraw Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 If not having the blocks is acceptable, use BURST instead of EXPLODE to retain the values of the attributes. Quote
dbroada Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 is BURST available on LT? I thought it was a LISP. Quote
RobDraw Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 I think so. Bitten by the LT bug again. I didn't look to see what they were using. Quote
MarkT65 Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 Hi Again Sorry for not replying sooner, the file I have is 2.55 mb so I dont think it will upload as it keeps saying error, the last dwg I did the long way by changing each block individually. I am getting more of these now and cant seem to find a solution, if someone would not mind helping me I can email to you. Many Thanks Mark Quote
dbroada Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I think your options are limited then. I am sure somebody could write you a LISP routine but as you have LT that is not a solution. Without seeing the drawing it is difficult to suggest a solution. You can change the colour of lots of objects at a time using the properties palette and maybe BEDIT your blocks so they take on the colour of their layer (if they don't already). Quote
MarkT65 Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 Thanks, I can email the dwg to someone if they want to see it. Quote
dbroada Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 OK, I've sent it back. Your problems stem from inconsistant construction of the blocks. Some are defined on their own layer, some on layer 0. Some have their colour assigned, some are byLayer and others ByBlock. You also have blocks within blocks within blocks. I have changed ALL the layers to a grey colour and redefined several blocks to have their colour byLayer. There are some you will still ahve to redefine yourself to bring the colour back in but hopefully its not such a mamoth task. Don't forget that if you redefine a block with attributes you have to ATTSYNC the block to get the attributes to take on the new colour. Quote
MarkT65 Posted May 14, 2013 Author Posted May 14, 2013 (edited) Hi As I can now sign in (explorer problem), I would like to thank Dave for taking the time to help me get the best result. I just need to find a way to count the blocks with attributes, I'm on lt so I cant use a lisp, I have tried using the filters but that does not seem to work and I don't think my employers will upgrade to full 2013,, is there any alternatives. Thanks Mark Edited May 14, 2013 by MarkT65 Quote
