Temporary interruption to service

CADTutor

Recommended Posts

The CADTutor forum will close for a short while this evening while we migrate to a new cloud server platform. Downtime may be an hour, depending on how the migration goes. The forum will close shortly before 18.00 GMT, that's 19.00 BST in the UK, 14.00 EDT New York and 11.00 PDT San Francisco.

Please avoid posting at these times.

I'll post an update in this thread once the work is complete.

Things seem snappier. All your efforts are certainly appreciated, thanks.

Yep, in theory, things should be a little quicker and it does feel that way.

Do let me know if you notice anything out of the ordinary, there's usually some fine tuning to be done after a server move.

It does seem to be a lot faster.

That has NOT been my experience with cloud platform before. Thanks!

1+

Much more responsive (re-?)loading a thread; thank you, David.

May I ask what service provider/specs you opted for with this new cloud server?

Cheers

I'm hosted with Clook and I've been with them now for 11 years. It's a small company but very good service and support. Initially, I've been conservative with the spec (2 CPUs and 3GB RAM) but so far I'm very pleased with the performance. I have about 12 sites running on the server with CADTutor being the biggest in terms of traffic (and everything else!). Surprisingly, the performance of this cloud server is much better than the dedicated server I was on before but that was quite an old blade.

With luck, I won't need to move again any time soon. Cloud resources can be scaled both up and down so I should be set for any eventuality.
