starman Posted November 14, 2009 Author Posted November 14, 2009 need to split or tile them jet/plane into a specific size lets say 32X44 in equal peices ,in other words 16 pages of 8.5X11 which is 4pagesX4pages so i can print them on my Canon IP3000 and them rejoin them by pasting them together like a poster, hopefully borderless.... kindy52 Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 I have to do something similar when I am plotting patterns wider than my paper size. Draw a rectangle, whatever your papersize is. Create a layer named "paper" and apply it to the rectangle. Turn the print icon off in the "paper" layer. Copy as many of these rectangles as you need side by side and under each other, covering what you need to plot and plot them out using the rectangles as windows. If this doesn't make sense, let me know. Quote
starman Posted November 16, 2009 Author Posted November 16, 2009 ok , i will give it a try , if i get lost , i will ask for you help again. i could also invite you to my website and you could chat live and walk me throught it, if you d think its be ezier. Quote
kindy52 Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Take a look at this dynamic block. You can place it over the object and use the tiles as your print windows. This object is set to a layer that does not print. The grip will scale it up or down. If you have to plot to scale you will want to scale it manually with the correct figure. Does this drawing need to be to a certain scale? If so, it gets a little more complicated, but not too bad. I can check out your site also, if need be. poster borders.dwg Quote
starman Posted November 16, 2009 Author Posted November 16, 2009 i ve manages to make 16 pages of paper sizes 85.5X11 , but i dont know how post to show you what ive done so far...attachment??? Quote
starman Posted November 16, 2009 Author Posted November 16, 2009 ok ... im about to simplify this whole ordeal, by showing you the 3 steps im trying to acomplish, Step one draw a plan import to CAD... Quote
starman Posted November 16, 2009 Author Posted November 16, 2009 Step 2 once i get inot CAD i will clean up and fix errors...finally take that image divide it into even 8X11 page to print to a regular printer... so i can repaste them toghether and make a poster that can be trace out over foam, with the size being what ever i chosse in auto cad normaly the image is around 44X32 once pasted with scotch tape..,,, dat should help a lot,,,,If you now understand and realize that im breaking my neck and theres a way ezier way plase atop me now..thank you for being so patient.MIKE Quote
starman Posted November 17, 2009 Author Posted November 17, 2009 wow...... i had a look thats ecxatly what im trying to do once i get the Jet all cleaned up and ready to print....Good job now to get me to do that...... Quote
kindy52 Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 You'll have to print it at 1:1 scale if thats how you drew it. You can stretch my border over it to find out how many pages it will take. Quote
starman Posted November 17, 2009 Author Posted November 17, 2009 1-problem one = it was drawn in other program so there is no scaling and if there is i not sure how to find it.or how to choose scaling in CAD so it actually has a definite size like 33X44. 2. how do i insert my image in your border DWG file , remember im real new. 3. step by step would help a bit, unless your really tied up, don't feel attached to this post, if you feel im to slow and stupid. kindy52 Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 No problem, everybody starts somewhere. There are many on this forum who are far beyond me. I like trying to help people because it helps me learn. Can you attach the image to a post by any chance? What file format is it in? tif or jpg? or something else? Quote
starman Posted November 18, 2009 Author Posted November 18, 2009 i tryed to post and CADforum said sorry you may be spamming or some thing... send me an Email rcfmitch at gmail dot com thanks... the image of my jets are .png but they can be any of 10 formats let me know which one you would like to see it in...Cheers. starman Posted November 18, 2009 Author Posted November 18, 2009 look at post #7 there is an imaged attached, these are the plans i always work with just different models! Cheers Quote
kindy52 Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Can you give me the dimension of the bottom line on make 2 from post #7 Quote
starman Posted November 18, 2009 Author Posted November 18, 2009 I believe your referring to the Turbine inlet face plate at the bottom and says make 2, sure thing. BLM =6.350 inches other wise your referring to the Fuselage which also says make 2? -------linear Mes= 8.512 inches. let me know if this help. Quote
kindy52 Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 I scaled the whole tif so that the bottom line of the bottom piece to 6.35 in. and this made the bottom lind of the piece above it over 9 in long. Are these parts drawn to the correct scale in relevence to each other? and if so, this whole drawing will almost fit on an 8.5 x 11 in paper. Did you want to make this larger? Quote
starman Posted November 18, 2009 Author Posted November 18, 2009 THe answeer is yes: much bigger...the image must span to 33x44 then sliced up into 8.5X11 sized parts for a total of 16 pages (4 pages wide X 4 page high) , or 16 slices basicaly ..the entire image would be slice by auto CAD and printed one page at a time for a total of 16 pages so i can the repaste them on the table and trace them out on a piece of 24 inch foam... Are you following , if not i try to fins another way to xplain it... Quote
kindy52 Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 I'll have you something over in a few minutes via email. Quote
