How to add images to your posts
You may, from time-to-time want to add an image to one of your posts. Maybe you have a tutorial to present or perhaps you need an image to explain things more clearly or maybe you just want to show off some of your work. Whatever the reason, here's what you do: 1. Find the "Manage Attachments" button in the "Additional Options" area of the Post New Thread or Reply to Thread page. image_tutorial_01.gif Click the button and a new "Manage Attachments" pop-up window will appear. (If you are using a pop-up blocker, you will have to turn it off or allow pop-ups from this site.) 2. Click the "Browse..." button and use the file dialogue box to locate the file you want to show in your post. image_tutorial_02.gif 3. Click the "Upload" button. The file will be uploaded in a few seconds and the filename and size will be displayed under "Current Attachments". image_tutorial_03.gif 4. Click "Close this window" to close the pop-up and return to the page where you started. 5. To insert the image in your post, place your cursor in the edit area where you want the image to appear and then click the down arrow next to the paperclip icon on the toolbar*. You will see the name of the file you just uploaded. Click on the filename. image_tutorial_04.gif 6. The editor places some BB code containing a reference to the file at the cursor position. image_tutorial_05.gif 7. Now, preview your post by clicking the "Preview Post" button to make sure you are happy with the result. image_tutorial_06.gif 8. If all is well, click the "Submit New Thread" button to make your post. Things to bear in mind The maximum image size allowed is 800px wide and 600px high** The maximum file size allowed is 250KB The maximum number of attachments allowed in one post is 12 The only image file formats supported are GIF, JPG and PNG Notes * If your toolbar does not look like the one in the illustration, go to your User CP, click on "Edit Options", scroll down to "Miscellaneous Options" and in the "Message Editor Interface" area, set the value in the drop-down menu to "Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing". ** If you upload larger images, they will be resized automatically. You will probably find that the image quality will suffer during this process and it is best to make sure the image is the right size before uploading to ensure maximum quality. |
