FrontPage Resources

Microsoft FrontPage 2002 is a relatively new product and so there aren't that many tutorials currently available on the Web. I have listed a few below. However, the basics have not changed since 2000 and so you will find plenty of help by looking at the FrontPage 2000 tutorials.

Book Recommendations

cover David Plotkin's book is great for beginners. It covers all the basics in a clear and straight forward manner. The book also succeeds in telling you about all the stuff you really need to know. How to do Everything with FrontPage 2002 is available from Amazon.co.uk for £17.09 and is worth every penny.

cover Microsoft Frontpage Version 2002 Inside Out by Jim Buyens is a much more comprehensive work and an excellent reference. However, it also serves as a super introduction and tutorial for beginners. The book runs to almost 1200 pages and includes a CD ROM. If you want a book that will last for more than your introduction to FrontPage, this is the one. The book is available from Amazon.co.uk for £32.99.

Florida Gulf Coast University - Beginners Tutorial5 Stars
Well written, well laid out, a model tutorial. If you want to know how to build web sites with Microsoft FrontPage 2000, this is the place to start. Excellent tutorial, worthy of 5 Star status.

Another brilliant tutorial from Gulf Coast. This is the equally good follow up to the beginners tutorial listed above.

A whole site dedicated to FrontPage. The tutorials section is basically an extensive index of tutorials provided by others, so if you are looking for something specific, look here.

In and Out of the Classroom4 Stars
These tutorials, by Microsoft, are designed for use by school kids. However, they are very good and cover many topics not covered by others. For example, there is a very good section on web site structure.

Another Microsoft resource. Some good background material with essays on topics such as Web Design and Typography.

A good but not very well designed site with some useful tutorials, including, Adding Sound Files and Safe Colours.

    Training Tools4 Stars
An excellent and comprehensive set of FrontPage 2000 Tutorials. My only criticism is that each chapter arrives in small page-at-a-time chunks.

    Venus Designs2 Stars
Less Design and more Venus - this site is a bit of a mess but the tutorials are really rather good and cover some of the more arcane aspects of FrontPage.

    Visual QuickStart Guide Extracts3 Stars
An extract from the FrontPage 2000 Visual QuickStart Guide. This one deals with the use of Template and Themes and is very good, as is the book.
