I´m a little bit rusti in AC. I resently worked in AC12 but have just bougt AC22. 

I have loaded my old homemade menufiles from AC12 to AC22, but i can´t get my pulldown-bars etc. up on the screen.

How do i do that...?

For this reason I´ve made a block database with over 500 blocks that have informations like romm-number, distribution, power consumption, and so on.

I do the following calculations of drawn plans with the data export in CAD or for example trimble nova (electrical). I know how to manage the export files in excel from CAD-Programs or Trimble Nova.

In CAD every block has a unique number and same attributes, which is nice to filter and sum them up for different zones in the plan or in general.

Sometimes excel feels a bit to clunky and its complicate to filter out distances (from distrubutor to power cunsuming parts) and if the export does not follow my system like in Nova I cannot use predefined excel sheets for it and have to make them individually every time.

Do you know a tool thats makes the management of the output visually more intuitive and with possibility for setting up programs such as finding blocks with same distributors and calculate x/y distances, for cable lengths, to sum them up.

Autodesk Revit for example has good opportunitys to sum up informations within rvt-files and use informations that are in the underlaying ifc-buildings, combine the informations and calculate with them.

I can combine this informations in excel by hand very nice too, I just wanted to ask if you know alternatives or know good programs for this.

Best case would be excel import and export, direct dwg input and a intuitive workspace to write in little programs to combine and calculate with the data.

My question is this;

if you have a suite of lisps, do you give the command names "shortcut" names or full descriptive names?

For example, I have a command that I call "COPYRADIAL". in my lisp that's what you use to call it.

(defun C:COPYRADIAL (/)...etc

Some people might just use

(defun c:CR (/)...etc

I don't use a shortcut because I don't want to inadvertently override a users personal pgp customizations, or an ACAD shortcut I just missed.

The only downside is some users are not savvy enough to figure out how to customize their shortcuts. (i know, i know).

How do you CAD managers approach this?

Anyway, can someone please help me leave the TableBuilder screen and return to my home screen where all of my tool icons reside?

There is a push internally to try to move to these (from the current system of using paperspace layouts) although I'm hesitant.

I'm working on a large-scale architectural drawing in AutoCAD, and it's starting to get pretty cluttered. I’ve been using layers to separate different elements like electrical, plumbing, and structural components, but managing them efficiently is starting to feel overwhelming especially when collaborating with others.

I’d love to hear how you manage layers in big projects:

Do you follow a specific naming convention or structure?

How do you handle layer states when sending files to clients or collaborators?

Any tips for keeping things clean and avoiding layer overload?

I’m relatively experienced but still refining my workflow, so any advice or resources would be awesome.

I 've made some drawings for Plates in autocad with Single line text and when i send to engrave company to print exact text as per cad  file. Engrave company using Corel draw to convert cad drawing for their machine. Need help to find the fault why they can't see text when import cad files into Corel Draw.

I've been around C3D long enough to have lived through the old original "data-shortcut" information into the sheet to get label smart objects, which I pretty much hated (we just labeled in the xref at that point). Then Autodesk gave us the ability to label through xrefs and life got so much better from there. We had 2D base files and 3D source drawings, xrefed into sheets, labeld through the xrefs (all but profiles) and utilized layer states.  Autodesk also gave us the ability to utilize the layer state within each base file or source drawing to control each xrefs visual state individually.  I would call this a traditional setup.

Now I'm seeing a trend in some companies/users to either draw everything in 2D in a base file, xref that in a sheet and then trace with ghost pipe network parts and alignments to design in the sheet - or - to design in the sheet and xref the sheet into one another to get the alignments/pipes to show up as background information in other sheets.  Either way, when I asked why? The answer I got was because it's easier to design when you can see the information in the label. This way leaves a Sheet file that I've seen have up to 12 tabs as to prevent splitting the network up.

I'm used to utilizing the part descriptions and xref/labels in the sheet are a basically a byproduct of the design files.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this.  Anyone seen this before?  Am I missing anything other than to each there own?

Seems I recall there being something to check for duplicates and it would ignore the name of the file only comparing contents.

Maybe even some method to speed up AutoCAD's COMPARE?

I've encountered a peculiar issue where the draw order appears correct when a drawing is opened independently but appears incorrect when used as an external reference (xref).

Do you have any insights or suggestions on how to address this?

what folders are created by cad when creating tool pallets?

as i am updating TP, new folders are created and i am not sure which ones i can delete or rename (they contain images).

if someone could explain the logic behind the scenes of tool pallets folders, i would appreciate it.

I work as a developer for AutoCAD add-ons.

Typically, I store my developments in: C:\Users\WIN10\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins

My add-on introduces a new tab, commands, tool palette, and custom icons.

I'm interested in creating an installer, but I'm uncertain about the appropriate location to paste certain data to ensure it doesn't overwrite anything on the target PC but rather complements it.

I've been unable to locate any official documentation explaining the deployment process.

Does anyone have information on this?

I want  explode multileaders as i want to put my leaders in Leader layer & Mtext in Text layer. But the problem i am facing is while i am exploding  the Multi leaders which turn into separate entities . But actually i want it to be a normal leader & mtext. can anyone please help me on this .

Need help and advice on this. I need to add a stainless steel balustrade to a balcony and the circle at 900 mm. spacing c/c represent 1100 mm. long circular balusters/post.  At one point there is a non-orthogonal break.  I will like to know if there is some rules regarding the distribution of the post around the break and what is the best way to deal with this.  The balusters are placed totally  outside the balcony, on the side of the slab. Also will like to know the security involved at this breaking area.  Thanks.

i wonder how to acquire a true report of the loaded drawing regarding to its font management.

questions like, 

how many fonts are missing?

what the names?

how many are loaded? substitued? with what?

2. Is using no less than 5 copies of AutoCAD which are unlicensed
3. Is using no less than 3 copies of Revit which are also not licensed
4. Is in deep do-do with the Tekla company for using unlicensed copies of their software in another division.

I'm convinced that I will be parting company with them within the next 30 days. In my time there I installed one and only one legal copy of AutoCAD 2023 which I legally own. I'm certain when I give my notice, they will require me to leave without touching my computer. Of course this will leave my copy of AutoCAD on their computer. So, when the time comes is there a quick, down and dirty method for invalidating the legitimate license on this desktop? I know I could prepare a batch file that will trash the ACAD.EXE file but I really want to be sure I don't leave them a quick way to repair it. My worries are there will be little time as we may all be required to leave the premises unexpectedly, so I need a quick mouse click and be out the door. Again, I could uninstall it but that takes several minutes of which I may not have when the time comes.

I really hate this kind of stuff, but the more I work in this industry, the more dirty tricks and not-so-honest people I run into.

BTW, could it be possible to achieve this by just changing my AutoDesk login password which would leave the copy on their computer but the next time ACAD is opened it will fail due to the invalid password. Like I said, I hate to even have to be planning this kind of exit, but I don't think I'll have much choice when the time comes.

I am working out of Tucson Arizona, and here in the Wild West they want Civil Plans to look like Architectural plans.  The Municipalities here are a joke, they make the most useless and arbitrary demands one of which is using Key Notes to label everything.  I am trying to get co-workers to understand the importance of my work flow dynamic, I am met with resistance at every turn... because, "this is how we have always done it."

If I could find a way to create the shapes needed (Hexagon, Pentagon ect.) for our construction notes so that I can make the styles we need that will be able to flip back & fourth without a left and right it would really help show the ease of use.  If I could get people on board with this, they will see the value of my workflow and save a ton of time on drafting in the long run.  It is a long & complicated issue...

can that new layout have a title block (or other) appear as a default?

We have a dynamic block/title block with multiple sheets in the drop down with numbered zones

and we would like that to appear when the (+) is picked. - if possible.

I tried filling in these settings with templates but what they did was start NEW drawings with a template.

(Which was nice) but not what I am after.

We are not using Sheet Sets where I work (if that matters)
