	Hello. I’m fairly new to Revit so I’m probably going to butcher this question. Is it possible to place different devices throughout a floor plan, based solely on the Room Tag. For instance, if there was a schedule that contained all of the different room names, could I go through that line by line and for a classroom, insert device A, for a kitchen, insert device B. Then when I opened up the floor plan, all of those devices would be there and I would just have to fine tune their location. Hopefully that made sense.

	I'm relatively new to Revit and am now looking for a way to change a parameter using a shortcut.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	In detail, I want to achieve the following:<br />
	1.) Select an object where a certain parameter is to be adjusted.<br />
	2.) Use the shortcut V+'NUMPAD+' to increase the value by 1, and use the shortcut V+'NUMPAD-' to decrease the value by 1.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Basically, I want to use this help to adjust the offset in the 2D view of sockets that are on top of each other.
</p>

<p>
	How can I do this? Would a macro help here?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Maybe someone can help me.<br />
	Thanks!

	I am working on setting up a new model... with the process I always use. My project is hosted in my company's ACC (it's then posted up to the GC's ACC). The architect's, structural, everyone else's models are hosted on the GC's ACC. I used AutoDesk Connector to get all the models as links into mine.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I'm currently having a weird issue.... ANY of the models I'm trying to link in will NOT open from the Desktop connector. I can NOT open them from the local drive. However, they open just fine if I open them directly from the cloud. Which makes me think there's something going wrong with my syncing. I've tried unsyncing and resyncing the project, I deleted my temp files, and deleted all the backup models in my USER&gt;AppData folders.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Anything else I can try?

	I'm on a project involving four buildings all connected by a parking garage. The buildings all have different levels, and I'm wondering how to best deal with that. I would prefer to have all buildings in one model, even though I know most people advice against it. This is because the architect has already started out in this manner, and the project leader has made out like he wants the other participants to follow suit.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<ul>
	<li>
		I could give all the buildings their own levels with names that relate to the building. It works, but creates lots of levels that will need to be filtered out in other views.
	</li>
	<li>
		The architect has all the buildings in one model, and so seems to have solved it for himself somehow. However, when I open his model, it only has a single set of levels that fit one of the buildings.
	</li>
</ul>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Any ideas on the best approach here?

<p>
	Hi all,
</p>

<p>
	I’m in need of a new laptop to run Autocad, Revit, Adobe suite and occasionally Lumion.<br />
	Unfortunately my current circumstances don’t allow me to have a desktop workstation, hence the laptop.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I’m a professional and I use revit daily for landscape projects. Generally the models are around 200/300mb in size and gets larger (a lot) with the external links (architectural / MEP / structure) that I need to keep on.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I’ve been advised to buy a laptop with the following specs:
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Intel® Core™ i9-14900HX - 24 CORE (4.1GHz, 5.90GHz Turbo)
</p>

<p>
	<br />
	NVIDIA® GeForce™ RTX 4080 GPU 12GB GDDR6 - TDP 150W
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	2 x 32GB Ram Kingston Fury Impact SO DIMM – DDR5 CL40 5600MHZ
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	2TB SSD Samsung 990 Pro
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	It ain’t cheap and I wonder if it’s a good configuration that ensures longevity or is an overkill and I can downsize something.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I know autocad can run on a smartphone basically, my only worry is revit - I don’t really want spending precious time looking at the blue wheel of death everytime I work on a model…
</p>

<p>
	I scoured the web to collect as many information as possible in order to make an educated decision, but the more I looked the more I’ve got confused with the vast range of CPUs and graphic cards available on the market.  <br />
	I’m now very indecisive with even more doubts.
</p>

<p>
	<br />
	I really need some advice.. thank you!
</p>

	Sorry to be such a drag on this learning curve. I'm working with an RVT model created by the project engineers. Its not bad to learn with but it has plenty of missing stuff and errors. Oh well, I'm not perfect either. The point I keep running into is when I want to dimension something or take a spot elevation, etc... and the text size is too large for the detail level I'm working with. So I figured out how to change the font size but that changes all the fonts in the whole file. Is there a way to change the font size on just the elements I want? I got to believe there is.

	4. I have gone into the VG for the linked model, and Rooms and Tags are on in there, too.
</p>

<p>
	     a. Checked the workset that the rooms are on, it's open and showing.
</p>

<p>
	5. When I toggle Reveal Hidden Elements, I can see them. They're grey though, so they're NOT hidden.
</p>

<p>
	6. My view is in wireframe, so they're not UNDER anything.
</p>

<p>
	7. Doesn't SEEM to be a phasing issue, as the linked model and the view are set to NEW CONSTRUCTION with SHOW ALL phase filters selected.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I've been googling for HOURS and I've tried everything.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	What am I missing?

	Now and then I need to place some temporary text in my model just as a reminder to take care of something later. Ideally it should have some no-plot-option and/or a way of hiding it without too much clicking. What is your preferred way of doing this?

<p>I am having trouble with creating a family that will have adjustable grips. I understand that I want to creat a new generic model family and follow the steps below.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>1. Create 2 reference planes to the left of the default center reference plane.</p>
<p>2. Create 2 reference planes to the right of the default center reference plane.</p>
<p>3. Make the reference planes that are just outside the default center plane (one on each side) equal to the center plane and click the EQ button.</p>
<p>4. Draw a symbolic line from the far left plane to the one just to the right of it.</p>
<p>5. Align the ends of the symbolic lines to those planes. Do the same with the other side.</p>
<p>6. Make sure all the newly created reference planes are set to Weak reference and load it in the family.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>I have followed thes steps and I have been reading on the information super highway that this is the way to do it but when I load it into the project it soes not give me the option to adjust anything. It only allows me mo grab the whole thing and move it around. </p>
<p> </p>
<p>Please help, what am I missing??</p>

	Ok... bear with me... this is kind of a weird one.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I recently started at a new company, who has always managed their Revit projects with a by-the-seat-of-our-pants workflow. As far as I can tell, they've always just downloaded other trades' models, linked them in locally (or used Vault, which I didn't really even realize was possible), and never really done a TRULY collaborative project. Until I came along and started working on projects in the cloud, with desktop connector, linking in the live models, etc. And we're getting into REALLY large projects, where this workflow is mandatory per contract.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Well, they asked me to start working on a model for a project they've had for a couple of years now. Not a problem until I realized that the entire project is being done in Revit 2018 (my subscription doesn't go back that far), is using BIM 360 TEAMS (which is SERIOUSLY no longer supported), and requires the C4R plugin (which is no longer available). Yes, I've asked if they were going to upgrade to a newer version and collaboration platform, but they seem to be in no hurry as Autodesk is literally suspending sunsetting 360 TEAMS for this client so they can continue working like this. If I told you what the project was, you'd understand why.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Now... my question is... how the **** do I do  this? We have ONE person that still has access to 2018 with the collaboration plugin, but she doesn't know how to model. Literally the only thing I could think of would be to create a virtual machine on her CAD computer that I could come into and use her setup. But that seems RIPE for issues.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Any suggestions? Is there something I'm missing here? Or is this just another case of Autodesk-needs-to-stop-changing-platforms-every-6-months situation?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Thanks.

<p>
	I need to create a floor with a void (area taken by building) and another area for driveway and parking to which I will add Grass material.  In Autocad I will do substraction or can be done using region, but what is the procedure using Revit.  <a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" data-fileext="png" data-fileid="63334" href="https://www.cadtutor.net/forum/uploads/monthly_2023_06/image.png.03071a9f828c0c21961728e0811a15fe.png" rel=""><img alt="image.thumb.png.8f029c4725f64f0b64fac70d5433b035.png" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="63334" data-ratio="69.75" style="height:auto;" width="800" data-src="https://www.cadtutor.net/forum/uploads/monthly_2023_06/image.thumb.png.8f029c4725f64f0b64fac70d5433b035.png" src="https://www.cadtutor.net/forum/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></a>

	Ok... using Revit for a project, and since we wanted to keep everything in one place, but don't have the capabilities to do system functionals and other things in Revit, we did some files in AutoCAD, and imported them. Everything works fine for the most part, but when I export to PDF, and search for text... it WILL find the text, but it also finds weird random blank spots on the page? There's nothing hidden in the view, I have most everything turned off except this DWG...
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Does anyone know why it does this? <br />

	Good Morning,
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	This is something I have been resisting for a while but a client is wanting all drawings to be sent in Revit (when I say client.. I suspect our project manager and will want to convert all Revit models to CAD at the end of the project... they go very quiet when I ask about formatting the client wants as a deliverable....)
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Revit isn't my thing.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	So line drawings - I get that you need to draw them in Drafting view, and that different views have different commands available, but is there a command line or similar, like in CAD where I can type in the command I want instead of trying to work out which tab the button I want to use is?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	(Single line drawings, 2d, perhaps don't need the complexities of software designed to draw 3d stuff)
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	(I maybe old fashioned but I'd like the Revit interface to be more like AutoCAD)
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	... there may be more questions later as I get round to using it
</p>
