  1. Hello I haven t been able to find an answer by searching the forum so I am starting this topic although it may have been answered before. I am trying to create a volume grid map showing cut fill elevation differences at the grid corners and labels in each grid square stating how much cut fill is in that square. I created 2 tin surfaces, Existing Ground Surface and As Made Surface after excavation. I then created a Tin Volume Surface. I closed the EG surface and the As Made Surface leaving only the Tin Volume Surface visible on screen. Next I defined and turned on the grid. Finally I turned on the Levels layer, showing the depth of excavation in shades of blue. Now I am stuck. I am using Autocad Civil 3D 2009 and XP. Any help would be very welcome now Thank You John
  2. I have an extrusion problem. Hover the cursor over Sketch 6 in the IPT file. My plan was to extrude (cut) areas A & B 25mm into the part. Problem is that I cannot select these areas by themselves. Why not and how can I fix this? Thanks _Extrude_Selection_Problem.ipt
  3. Hello everyone, I'm having some some issues with a sheet metal part I'm working on. Im very new to the inventor software, but can work thru most thing i come across. Our issue: We are designing a chute to fit around an inclined conveyor inside of a tank. I have made the sheet metal part by lofting two sketches on separate planes. The issue I'm having now, is that I cant cut a section of the sheet metal for clearance of the conveyor. I seem to get an error every time i try it. I even tried to convert it back to a standard part and try to a do an extrusion of the part to get it to cut it out, no luck. I will attach my part, I have the box in a sketch that needs to be removed from the sheet metal planes. If someone could please lead me in the right direction of what I need to do, and explain what I'm doing wrong, I would highly appreciate it. Thanks everyone Inventor 2010 Professional chute help.ipt
  4. Hi, I wanted to drag a selection of objects (that are on different layers) and just cut n' paste them onto one layer (effectively merging them). Possible? Thanks
  5. Hi, This is my first post. I hope someone can help me. I have been given a file initially made in Solidworks that consists of the front end of a car made with surfaces. I have the Solidworks file as well as a IGES export and a STEP file version. The ultimate goal is to slice this model into 1-1/2 " slices so that it can be exported to BobCAD/CAM and milled. I have tried creating a plane off to the side of the model and drawing a pair of rectangles then extruding a cut through the model. Inventor does not allow me to even select the cut feature (I think this is called 'subtract', sorry I am not in front of my Inventor PC at the moment.) My question is, how can I take a 3D model made entirely of surfaces, and make a set of cuts so that I am left with only a slice of the model, which I can then export as an IGES or STEP file to be milled? I am fairly well versed in Inventor, but only making solid parts, not working much with surfaces. Thanks.
