  1. Hi, I'm new and self taught on cad (so sorry if i appear dumb) I've used cad now in a basic 2d architectural sense now for 10 years, through various versions. I have recently dropped back to a 2007 from 2008 (changed jobs) and for some reason the draw order is all messed up i noticed this first through hatching but its on everything including inserted images. I've tried a few of the solutions on other threads even uninstalling cad and re-installing it and nothing seems to be sorting it. Functions like 'send to back' etc just don't work and the draw orders are all to pot. Any ideas ?
  2. Hi all I was wondering if anyone knows of a lisp code to hatch squares, i have a textfile with xyz coordinates and a color code, the coordinates are in the center of all the squares. what i would like is to hatch the squares with a specific color, defined in the text file. Can anyone help to make this. (theres a lot of squares that needs to colored) thanks in advance.
  3. Hi again, I have a serious problem when hatching in AutoCAD LT 2011, it's making my PC hang but only when I'm using the 'Add: Pick points' command. It's so bad that I can't even call up the task manager to stop the process and I have to switch it off and on again to get it working. I've never encountered this before with earlier versions of AutoCAD, is there a way around this? It's driving me nuts! I'm using AutoCAD LT 2011 on Windows Vista. **EDIT** Since opening my most recent backup file I think I may have found the cause. I had inserted a .jpg image (150 x 150 @ 8KB) that I was using to trace around it and it was these tracings that I tried to hatch. I have since deleted the image and now the hatching causes no problems.
  4. Dear Fellow DeepCADers, Our office recently upgraded to AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 from AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010, and I'm experiencing one very annoying issue. When opening drawing files that were made in 2010, we frequently find these 4x20 solid hatches in either magenta or cyan. Sure, we could easily just click and delete them... But what is causing these random hatches to be created? At first I thought maybe Civil 3D was misreading our legends and creating a hatch from them (we usually have hatches in our legends), but in the attached photo you'll see a part of a drawing that had no legend, viewports, or hatches previously still fell to this annoyance. You'll notice the little guy behind the text box... Is there a way we can prevent this from happening in the future? Is there anyone out there who is experiencing the same issue? I've searched forums for an answer, but, as of yet, it seems that my coworkers and I are the only ones who are having this problem. Thanks for your time! Thomas

    Hatch grrips

Hi, Hi, I recently upgraded from Autocad 2011 to Autocad 2012. When editing hatch in 2011 I used to be able to single click the hatch pattern, and then use one of the many grips to edit it, but now, when single clicking the hatch pattern in Autocad 2012, only one grip appears in the centre, in the form of a blue dot? How do I set my Autocad 2013 to behave as it did in Autocad 2011? Thanks in advance
  6. Probably this question has been asked before. I have a hatch pattern in one of my objects. I want to apply exactly the same hatch pattern to other objects but I don't remember the settings for original hatch. There is a command in ACAD to apply properties of one object to others (brush icon in toolbar). I tries to use this command but it seams that it doesn't work for hatch. Am I correct? What is easiest way to apply a hatch pattern from an object to the other one?
  7. Hi, I've been workin on Autocad since last year and I was using hatch patterns just perfectly, then I tried to download and install new hatch patterns, as I needed more variety. I don't know what happened, but I can't use anything now. If I try to fill in with a Hatch Autocad will tell me that it can't find a file, there arre no standard patterns available, and there is error in reading the pattern file. What should I do? I very lost. Any help would be great
  8. Hi, I 'm new to this forum. I hope I could find an answer to my question. I exported a dwg as .EPS and opened it up in Illustrator. Everything is fine except from the hatch, which looks like this: and below is how it normally looks like in Autocad. I tried exploding the hatches and exporting to EPS again, but no change. I am using Acad2013 (mac) and I 've experienced this again in previous mac versions. I haven't tried in windows. Finally, I noted that although most hatches get messed up, there are a couple that don't(confusing right?). I would greatly appreciate some help.
  9. I want to write my own hatch command. (AutoCAD 2011) In that, I want user to create the hatch manually and then process the hatch object created by the user in my command. Manually, when you type hatch command at the command prompt: "When the ribbon is active, the Hatch Creation contextual tab is displayed. When the ribbon is off, the Hatch and Gradient dialog box is displayed." (from Acad help). However the (command "hatch") statement does not activate the contextual tab even when the ribbon is active. I have tested all combinations with -hatch, -bhatch, cmddia and PAUSE, but without success. Is this 'incomplete' work by AutoCAD Development team? Is there a way to activate the contextual tab using Lisp after (command "xxx") statement? I have searched the forum but could not find anything related. Please help.
  10. Does an AutoCAD drawing store the list of hatch pattern names used in the drawing? I explored NamedObjDict but I could not find anything. I want to extract the list into a text (or xl) document for further use. Thanks for any help.
  11. I was wondering if there was a simpler way then coding to create custom hatch patterns. I would also like to know if there is a way to save something as a symbol for later projects. Thanks for any help you can provide.
  12. Hello, I'm using Autocad Architecture 2008 and no matter what I seem to do in Materials Definitions, Style Manager, or Display Manager I cannot get the surface hatch to display on slab edges. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! img, #cubbies-overlay{ -moz-transition-property: margin, box-shadow, z-index; -moz-transition-duration: 0.1s; -webkit-transition-property: margin, box-shadow, z-index; -webkit-transition-duration: 0.1s; } .cubbies-selected{ z-index: 9999; box-shadow: 3px 3px 8px -1px blue !important; cursor: pointer !important; margin: -3px 3px 3px -3px; } .cubbies-selected:active{ box-shadow: 2px 2px 5px -1px darkblue !important; margin: -1px 1px 1px -1px; } #cubbies-overlay{ position: fixed; z-index: 9999; bottom: 30px; left: 30px; box-shadow: 0 2px 3px rgba(0,0,0,0.; border: none; } #cubbies-overlay:hover{ box-shadow: 0 2px 3px rgb(0,0,0); }
  13. Well, I've been working on this document the last year or so. Hatches were working just great. I passed it on to a friend so he would help me with some details, which included shadows (lots of hatches). When he gave it back to me, I continued to work on it and now suddendly my hatches don't work, at all. I click hatch everything looks normal then I proceed to select objects/pick points and I click enter and it appears to be fine except no hatch shows up. I've tried different types of hatch, scales, etc. Why is this happening? What should I do? At moments I find myself copying hatches already done and altering them by dragging corners to fit new places but this is quite time consuming. Any suggestions or ideas? I must say my friend's version was I think autocad 2011 or 2010 and mine is 2012. Could this be the reason?
  14. i opened up a drawing which had a hatch over an area, and after deleting some text from within the hatch extents, found that the hatch didn't ignore the text & put the hatch behind it, rather, it created an island around the text to avoid a hatch/text clash. I've removed a few pieces of such texts, and now have a bunch of rectangular holes in my hatch where the texts used to be. How can I remove these islands completely without having to rehatch the whole thing again? (I realise I could simply minimise the size of the island by picking the four corners/vertices of the hatch and bringing them closer together, but this is a messy solution) Thanks in advance
  15. In AutoCAD 2008 I couldn't put multileaders in hatched areas. When I added the multileader to the hatch objects, the hatch disappeared in a triangle defined by the text width and the arrowhead. Useless. In AutoCAD 2011 I can't put multileaders in hatched areas, but for a different reason. With a Circle block for content, the hatch uses the circle as a boundary, which is okay, but then it uses the text inside as another boundary. The text itself becomes hatched! Still useless. I can give a background mask to a text multileader, why not a block multileader?

    Hatching and gaps

Hey! I have tried to search solution to this gap problem but with no success. AutoCAD generates gaps to my drawing, sometimes there is NO gap and then it says there is when I'm selection new are to hatch (puts the red circle to old place where it didn't earlier say there is gap!). I have tried to use Gap Tolerance tool first with value of 10 but it didn't work. After that I changed it to 1000 and it worked but the hatch area wasn't good. I also tried to pull line over other and trim it, didn't work either. Used also join but it didn't work... I have used object snap always when I drew the picture. I have zoomed as much I can and there is no gaps. I'm so confused! What to do? Thanks in advance! Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  17. Hi there! I've got a drawing in Acad 2010 which consist of about 6000 lines. The image is a ship, and I need the drawing to insert in a HMI screen. Now my problem: The accomedation of the ship is white, as is the background of the sheet. I need the drawing with a black background, but want to keep the white color of the accomedation of the ship. When I change the backgroundcolor of the sheet to black, the white areas inside the drawing will also change into black. If I trie to hatch the white areas inside the drawing the program gives a messages that there are to many open bounderies. I tried to make a blok of the drawing and move it on a black square, but then again the white areas will turn black. So for short: How can I make the white areas non-transparent without using the hatch-command????? Thanks in advance!!

    Hatch Issues

Hey all, I am running Civil 3D 2010. I have hatch a bunch of areas with the gravel pattern hatch. However, they are at different scales. When I try to change the scale I get a totally different hatch pattern. I have attached a screen shot showing my problem. Hatch picture.pdf Thanks!
  19. I have existing drawings that I copy and manipulate into new ones. I have a drawing of a conveyor line that has some segments "highlighted" with a yellow hatch that appears to follow a single line. The conveyor layout has been changed. So I need to update the drawing for the new layout. I'm wondering how this was drawn. I cannot explode the hatch to copy parts of it. I'm thinking there was probably a simple way to get the hatch to follow the drawn line. Putting boundaries around the drawn line to hatch in would be rather time consuming. Is there a simple function I don't know about?
  20. Hey, I have a hatch (ANSI31) enclosed by a closed polyline. Whenever I change the hatch from ANSI31 to GRAVEL some of the hatch shows up outside the boundary. The Polyline consists of both arcs and line segments, and the hatching errors are occurring within the radius of the arc segments. Changing it from Associative to Non Associative makes no change. I am using AutoCAD 2011.
  21. Before I go down a long road of frustration ...... Can I hatch a 3D solid surface? Do I have to create a 3D face on top of it beforehand? Would like some tips on how to begin. (I know how to hatch in Acad LT). Thnx
  22. Hello everybody, as most of you know, a drawing file has tables containing linetypes, etc. so there is no need to have acad.lin or acadiso.lin to get definition of loaded linetypes. I find out this is also correct for hatch patterns, i.e. if you use a hatch pattern to hatch a boundary, even after deleting the HATCH object, definition of the pattern remains in the drawing. My questions are: 1- How is it possible to get these hatch pattern definitions? (for linetypes AutoLISP functions (tblobjname), (tblnext), etc. work well, but for patterns not.) 2- How can one purge them out of drawing? Thanks in advance
  23. How can it be that a hatch object has no area property? Using the AREA command, it says the object has no area. None shown in properties. None listed using vlisp (vla-get-Area Obj). I have seen this before, but could never figure out why or how it happens. Any thoughts?
  24. ?:oops:Hello I am still really new at CAD and was hoping someone could help me. I am trying to convert a drawing to PDF but I keep losing the hatch in the conversion. Is this normal? Can the hatch be converted to PDF with the rest of the drawing? Please help! ?:?
  25. Hello everyone; I hope you are enjoying the warmer temps, at least we here in the Vancouver Canada area are, it's only been about 7 months. Anyways my question has to do with hatches. I have downloaded a hatch file called ansi38. When I access this file from the design centre all 202 hatches load onto the right side of the design centre screen to display what is inside the file. I can drag any of these hatches onto my screen and onto an object but I cannot access the hatch editor, some error. I see that the ansi38 file is loaded into the "custom tab of the hatch type/custom hatch palette because it resides with the acad.PAT and ansi.PAT files but oddly enough only the standard ansi38 hatch is visible on the preview screen on the right of the hatch pattern palette. No matter what I do to the acad.PAT or ansi.PAT files I cannot load the desired hatches from inside the ansi38.PAT file. What am I doing wrong and why can I see the hatches inside the ansi38.PAT file from the design centre but cannot access them any other way. If anyone can help I would appreciate it.Note: All of the hatch codes inside the ansi38.PAT file are visible insode Notepad just like the acad.PAT and ansi.PAT files.I'm using AutoCAD 2010. Thanks
