I'm a college Architecture student using CAD 2011 for MAC. I have multiple copies of a block, and when I move one copy to a layer, it doesn't seem to actually move. For example, if I have 2 copies of block A, and move one copy from layer "Inside" to layer "Outside", then hide layer "Outside", the block I just moved doesn't hide, but everything else on layer "Outside" does hide. When I inspect the moved block, the properties say it's on layer "Outside". What is going on? Thanks!

Help with annotative text
davidjb82 posted a topic in AutoCAD 2D Drafting, Object Properties & Interface
Hi there. I've never really used annotative text in past versions of AutoCAD because I've always found it to be flawed, and also never really needed 2 different scales, but now I've moved on to 2011, it is much simpler to use, except for this 1 issue... Is it possible to move each scaled text to different parts of the drawing? As an example, I have a room which text at 1:50 fits in fine, But 1:100 gets in the way of some of the equipment in there, so I would like to keep the 1:50 text in the room, and move the 1:100 to just outside. I can't work out if this is possible or not, or if I would just have to use non annotative text at 2 different scales. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you -
I suspect I'm not going to give adequate information so please feel free to ask for more. 1. I have an existing Autocad LT installation 2010 2. It's on a failing xp workstation 3. I'd like to move the floating license to a more stable box 4. We don't have an active subscription 5. I have no idea how to do this. ((per #4)) so some hints would be most appreciated.

Looking for a lisp that can look at the coordinate X and Y of and object, like X 1.256998856, Y 1.25366544556945 and move it to .005 snap. (X1.260, Y 1.250) Can anyone point me in the right direction?

problem with displacemet or use first point as displacement in copy, move commands
khoshravan posted a topic in AutoCAD Beginners' Area
I have difficulty on specifying the distance for copy or move commands. It has different options and I have to get my desired result after many try and error. Where can I find a detailed explanation on these commands options? distance, base point and first point as displacement. My exact problem is as follows: I want to move a line 5 cm to the right of present location with orthogonal active . What is the best/fastest way to do this?- 17 replies
