    Auto CAD to 3DS Max

Hi everyone. I am looking for some help / advice / tutorial links etc. I am trying to get a site layout (roads, footpaths, buildings, open space) from Auto CAD into 3DS Max. I am quite new to Max, i know how to import and scale my drawing, and i know how some of the modifier tools work, but that's about it! Does anyone know of any decent tutorials on how to turn a CAD site layout into a 3D model, using the original CAD line and without having to retrace the whole thing in Max? Many thanks Matt
  3. Hello All, Having a hard time figuring best way to plot this deed. The many radiii are throwing me off and I end up with a triangle. Any help or tutorial would be greatly appreciated. Just need to unlock the first steps. I have done simple plans before, but this one is above my expertise. Here is the deed description: BEGINNING at a point on the Southeast side of James Road (50 feet wide) which point is measured on the arc of a circle curving to the left having a radius of 150 feet the arc distance of 91 feet 7 1/8 inches from a point is measured North 38 degrees 23 minutes 12 seconds East 538 feet from a point; which point is measured on the arc of a circle curving to the right having a radius of 20 feet the arc distance of 31 feet 5 inches from a point on the Northeast side of Thomas Avenue (64 feet wide) thence extending along the Southeast side of James Road along the arc of a circle curving to the left having a radius of 150 feet the arc distance of 72 feet 4 7/8 inches to a point on the Northeast side of James Road thence extending North 65 degrees 44 minutes 35 seconds East 128 feet 5 3/4 inches to a point, thence extending South 50 degrees 25 minutes 8 seconds East 218 feet 11 7/8 inches to a point, thence extending North 36 degrees 35 minutes 53 seconds West 273 feet 5 inches to a point on the Southeast side of James Road, the first mentioned point and place of beginning. Thanks. John
  4. Here's an odd one (hi everyone!), a planning consultant has asked me to show the roof pitches on a site plan, and I'm stumped. Any ideas? This is what I've done so far: Sorry to bother, any suggestions welcome! I'm so far thinking of showing a few basic cross sections on the same drawing sheet. This isn't a CAD technical thing, just a 'how to portray information' thing Look forward to your comments
  5. Hi, I received a site plan for my house in an unknown scale. It is in 1'=100' scale printed on 24x36, but for some reason I cannot work with it in AutoCAD 2009. I'm trying to place my 1'=30' scale house on the site plan, but the house is ending up gigantic and not to scale. TutorCAD.dwg
  6. Hi All, As a preface... I'm new here. Now here is my question: a civil engineer sent us a .dwg file for a site survey. However, the .dwg contours are just showing up as a series of overlapping rectangles. He attached two .txt files, one for elevation point locations, the other for tree locations. Both give coordinates... i.e. :452,2718.7202,2509.7896,569.4979,GL etc. I know that the .txt file is giving locations, but I do not know how to generate plines etc. from the given coordinates in the .txt file. I downloaded ascponit.lsp, but i'm not sure if this is meant for this... I'm using AutoCAD 2008. Any recommendations? Thanks, LR
