    table default style

Hello, I am having issues finding the location to set the default table style for a line/curve table. Any help is appreciated! thanks, phil
  2. Hello all, I am looking for a way to append a remark/comment column at the far right of my alignment table. The desired result would be to have a character, a simple hyphen, in every 'remark' cell and be able to revise it to be a comment specific to the line/curve in that same row. Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Regards, Phil
  3. Hi guys, I wanna know if someone has a Lisp code to convert a simple table to a real table. The drawing shows a simgle table made by lines and texts. Thanks in Advance.

    Curve Table Row Heights

Hey All, Is there anyway to adjust the row height when making a curve table. i know that it is possible to adjust it when making a regular table but I do not see anywhere in the curve table settings/style to adjust it. I know its based off of the text height but its too much of a gap. Thanks for any and all help. Miller
  5. Hi all, I'm hoping you can help. I require a lisp file that can count the number of blocks in a drawing and calculate the total area of say a polyline that is in each block and plot it in a table format? Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Thanks Peter
  6. Is there a command or a .lsp that converts individual lines within a single MTEXT object into a CAD table with rows and columns? Unfortunately, Excel is not installed locally on my computer, so I cannot do a DATALINK. In Excel, I select and copy the cells to the clipboard. In AutoCAD, I PASTESPEC as text or unicode text. It appears as a single MTEXT. BLOCK LOT NUM AREA BLOCK 1 1 5770.67 BLOCK 1 2 5300.01 BLOCK 1 3 5336.69 BLOCK 1 4 5280.00 BLOCK 1 5 5280.00 BLOCK 1 6 5280.00 BLOCK 1 7 5280.00 BLOCK 1 8 5280.00 How do I convert this into a table in AutoCAD with cells and rows? I do not want to export back to Excel if I can avoid it. Thanks!

    trouble with table

Hello, At the request of a co-worker I am trying to generate a table with the station number and % grade of the lane subassembly at that station. Any help is appreciated. Additionally, they want it to be a live, dynamic table in the drawing, not a toolbox report dropped into excel. Thanks! Phil
  8. Lately I've been working on electrical panel schedules in both excel and CAD. The company I work for is pretty particular about how they set up the schedules regarding colors and fonts, so they have a table style template set up. This works great, but I still have to pull up the adcenter and pull the style from a previous project to import. Is there any way to save it to my list of styles permanently so that I don't have to find it every time? If not, is there a way to save the file somewhere so I can import it myself easily in the future?
  9. Good evening, everyone. When manually creating table styles you can create custom cell styles and set, for each of them, a horizontal and a vertical margin. I'm trying to change an existing table style via LISP. I need to check each cell style, extract the values of its horizontal and vertical margins, multiply those values by a factor and then set these new products as the horizontal and vertical margins of that cell style. My problem is that I don't seem to find reference to cell styles anywhere. I can't find them using entget and I can't find them listed in vlax-dump-object. Is there a way to get the names of all the cell styles defined in a table style? And then is there a way to change the properties of such cell styles (namely the horizontal and vertical cell margins)? The most promising thing I've found so far is the GetCellStyles method (which is supposed to list by name the defined cell styles), but I can't seem to be able to use it correctly. No matter which arguments I supply to it I always get nil. Does anyone know how to use the GetCellStyles method? I thank you all in advance. PS.: there are a HorzCellMargin and a VertCellMargin methods (40 and 41 groups in the tablestyle entity list), but the values there apply only to the standard cell styles ("Data", "Header" and "Title").
  10. Does someone have a routine (or know of a way) to reorder a column of text items? ie: Line 1 Line 2 Line 3 Line 4 to Line 4 Line 3 Line 2 Line 1 I have a large table of text that I need to flip the column order. Has someone posted something along these lines? Is there an Autocad command I don't know about? I have had no luck in any of the search terms I have used.. Thanks for all the help you guys provide...

    Pipe radius in table

Hello all, I would like to be able to have my pipe table generated so that if there is not a radius it would display a " - " in the cell of the table as opposed to a 0.00' radius. Has anyone found a way? Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks, Phil
  12. Hi guys, I've created a table through data extraction using blocks for data. The table isn't showing the text for comments, keywords, title or subject that is in the drawing file for the different blocks. Any ideas why this is so? Thanks
  13. Hi guys, I've created this dynamic block for work. Its an overhead cupboard with 4 doors. My problem is that when i create a table through data extraction the value for the length and height for the doors aren't shown (The column this there with a heading, no value), the length of the cabinet and visibility is though. Do i need to assign an action or something for the value to be displayed? Thanks 4 DOOR OHC - ELEVATION.dwg

    Block, Image, Extraction

Is there a way to add an image or icon as an attribute to a block? I have created a lot of dynamic blocks and use eattext to extract data to a table for an equipment legend/table. I always have to add the legend symbol to the list manually and was wondering if there is a way to insert or link an image so that when I create the legend the symbol will automatically be loaded.
  15. Hi fellow drafters, I've been using Tables referencing Excel tables I've written up for a long while, but usually stick with Calibri font and everyone is happy. But it is required for these new tables that I use RomanS in the tables to match our lead contractor's format. The problem I have is my font comes out illegibly thin, and I cannot seem to control it outside of using bold font in the table. Does anyone know how to increase/control the lineweight of the text inside an external reference table? Even if through excel, I just need to know how to make this table legible. Thanks,
  16. Hi All: I'm looking for a lisp that will help accomplish the most mundane part of drafting - creating a coordinates table. I've found lisps on the internet that can do this, and actually work very well, here's an example: http://www.cadlispandtips.com/2011/09/lisp-coordinates-with-table.html This actually works great and the output is almost exactly what I want, the only problem is that the table is simply made up of lines / text. Rather than an actual Table with Fields. And while I can re-create the table over and over again, other users of the drawing (that don't have that lisp) will have to manually edit the text. So I'm looking for a lisp that will allow a user to: 1) create points / preferably with a point number 2) automatically outputs the coordinates / points number to a table in the layout view, with the correct text size, depending on scale 3) instead of putting text in the table, will put fields that are linked to each point so that if the points are moved, a simple regen of the table will update the coordinates. This can be done manually by Insert field -> Objects -> Object -> [select point] ->position -> Filter X / Y / X. Sorry if this has been asked before, I'm new to the site and haven't been able to find it yet. Really appreciate any help anyone can provide. JK
  17. Hi all, I'm using a datalink table insertion utility tbl.lsp from Juan Villareal. It allows me to insert the table for the first time in the drawing without any issues. But when I want to insert the table (different table though) for the second time in the same drawing, AutoCAD crashes giving me unhandled exception error. Few questions related to this, 1) Can the tbl.lsp be fixed (if there is any error) 2) Is there a better known utility that I should be using instead of tbl.lsp (with all due respect to J.Villareal for his great lisp) Please suggest. Thanks all Tbl.lsp
  18. Good Day looking for assistance with extracting data from an AutoCAD table. Hav found a fex examples on how to create a table in AutoCAD with VB.Net but no luck on how to loop through the rows and columns in an AutoCAD table and see the items within. Want to be able to loop through a list of drawings, open drawings find the table in Paper or Model space, loop through the records and export them to excel - SQL or XML, or even a simple method of creating a collection if records in VB.Net, where one colud then export the list Any assistnace most welcome Regards
  19. Hi everyone, I'm following this great forum for a year now and it has help me A LOT! so first of all thank you all. Now for our Bill of Material we generate tables with the data extraction function which is great since it's updating itself on every change in the selected entities. The BOM can be very long (in term of rows) and the drawings very large (road engineering) so having the handle associated to the entity length and/or area would help us to locate it quickly (we already have a lisp to locate entities by handle). The question then is: How can add a new column in the generated table that will contain the handle of this entity ? Basically I have now a table with |Layer|length|Area| and would like |Handle|Layer|length|area| Thank you very much Daniel EDIT: the table catches data from any type of entity (polylines, circles, hatches, blocks ...)
  20. So I just started at a new firm and they are using datalinks for the attic vent calculations. The table is in Excel and once filled out it should populate in the drawing. My CPU was an old employee's so it isn't new installed software but my datalink button says that Excel is not installed properly and will not let me edit the datalink in Autocad. I can however open the Excel file from the reference manager just fine and it opens. I have tried hard pathing and softpathing with no luck. Other people can insert it for me which they did in one file but I want to be operating at 100% like they are. Any ideas?
  21. I have an assembly (with 4 parts) that I am creating a part table for. I am getting more familiar with iParts and iProperties, but have not found how to connect the revision on the part drawings to the table of the assembly. Everything I have read points to using the Vault but I have never set that up. Is this going to be the answer moving forward or is there a simpler way of achieving this? I am assuming that getting the Vault implemented in everyday use will be the best so that may be my next headache. Any good references or information would be great. Have a great St. Patrick's Day! -Kelly Patrick
  22. We have Map 2011 and I created a drawing with several tables pasted from Excel. Also, we are currently restricting our file format to AutoCAD 2010. The tables pasted from Excel initially worked great and I was able to perform several edits and plots without any problems. That is, until another user opened the drawing. At that point, the table lines were still present but the text was missing. Also, I see the text when I open the drawing but I find that I can only edit the text using find/replace. Double-clicking does not open the text for editing. Is there a fix for this besides exploding the tables? Thanks. Brian.

    Dropdown List

I am trying to create a dropdown list, what I am looking to do seems simple enough in theory. Just like excel I want to create a data validation (list). option 1, I have read several post's with people who seem to be trying to accomplish the same thing, the answers I am finding are basically saying to paste a link to the excel file. This would be great except the folder the excel file would be in is always re-named from (template) to a specific job name, thus causing my link to break and teaching everyone in the dept. how to re-link the file seems like a pain. option 2, I was thinking of doing a visibility state on an mtext or attribute, I couldn't get the attribute to change visibility states and the visibility state for mtext does not seem like the right solution. option 3, using a table or data extraction in CAD from the pasted in excel file, thus allowing me to create the drop down list. Attached are 2 pictures of the what I am working with, we use an excel file to write out a list of materials (always different) and then we have to re-type or copy and paste these materials into the titleblock. We are using ACAD Arch 2012 & 2013 Thanks in advance for any advice, macros, or solutions !Problem = Need drop down list ---> Want to select the W# ---> Want the description to populate the titleblock from CAD table or excel
  24. I have some (single box)tables in my drawings that are referencing measurements on my drawing (Insert field:Object:Measurement). Sometimes I have a formula (ie. =measurement+.250) When I initially enter the text/formula, everything works great. When I go to edit (change what dimension I'm referencing, or modify the formula), the text is invisible. I can highlight where the text/formula is, but I can not see what the text says. If I save and reload AutoCAD, the text is there, until I change it, and then again, it disappears if I want to again modify the text. This is driving me nuts when I need to make multiple edits...ideas? Using AutoCAD Mechanical 2011 and Windows 7
  25. Hi, I have a question about if it is possible to set a block's dimensions to read a table's cell value. Say a rectangle has dimensions x wide by y tall and a table has the x and y values given in cells a1 and b1 linked from an excel spreadsheet. I would like to link it like this because i have an excel file that will update and then output to AutoCAD. Is this possible and if so how? I have figured out how to link the excel table into AutoCAD. I am using AutoCAD 2012 if that helps. Thanks, Barry
