A client has asked me if I can give them a .nc file so they can directly input into their cnc machines. I know that I can save an autocad drawing, or objects in a drawing, as a .DXF file. I also know that i can purchase, or obtain an open-source version of, software that will then convert the .DXF file to a .nc file. Currently, my company does not do 3-d models. I have not dealt with this before, so, I am wondering if my drawings will need to be 3-d in order for the .nc code to be correctly read. Is anybody familiar with this?

"Unknown value "AC1027" encountered in drawing version. Invalid or incomplete DXF input -- drawing discarded. Press Enter to continue." (then the file disappears) MY workflow: I am opening up DXF files created by me with RASPLOT 2.5 and RASPLOT 3.0 (an Army Corp of Engineers Hyrdraulic model extraction program) I bring the DXFs into AutoCAD for better cleanup of the 2D graph it creates of flood profiles. OBSERVATIONS: Others in my office have opened the same engineering models in RASPLOT and been able to bring DXFs into AutoCAD 2011/2012 in with no problem. It had worked for me in the past, but I can't recall what happened to all of a sudden make it not work, EVER. My co-workers can work with the RASPLOT DXFs in Windows XP and Windows 7. ATTEMPTED SOLUTIONS: -I upgraded my RASPLOT version first from 2.5 to 3.0, then upgraded my AutoCAD2011 to 2012. No change. -If I create the DXF on my computer, then open it remotely from another computer's AutoCAD, I still get the same error message. (My only solution has been to create my DXF by remotely logging into another computer with RASPLOT then it will open in my computer's AutoCAD.) - I tried changing the .dxf file path to .dwg but that doesn't work. -One forum tried to explain opening it in Word and changing formatting? I followed it but that didn't change anything. ANY advice would be helpful, not much help from the RASPLOT side since they expect for the user to go through their cumbersome DXF Editor program. I just want to start out by saying I know a little bit about cad but I do not know a whole lot about plotting corrdinates. My issue is as follows. I have about 40 gps corrdinates that I took with Droid2Cad which are recorded as lat, long, and alt. The points can be exported to .dxf and .kml(google earth). I have exported them to both and it looks like google earth plots them correct but I have issues with the .dxf file. I have a .dwg site plan of an agriculture site from a engineering firm that seems to be drawn at 1:1. When I go to overlay the points on the site plan the points end up way off off the site plan. I dont know if I need to scale the .dxf or what. The points seem to be in the right configuration but they dont land anywhere close to the right spots. When I overlayed the points on the .dwg, I selected all the points, copied with a base point on a point that I knew the corresponding point on the .dwg, and pasted that point to the point on the .dwg. I dont know if I did a good enough job explaining this but I would appreciate any help anyone can give me. If you need more info or clarification please let me know. Thank you for your time.
