  1. I'm having a lot of problems with a set of drawings that are getting bigger and bigger. When I started working on them they where about 800kb - with no mayor changes the file has grown to 13000kb. They problem starts when I paste from one file into the next - even though is just one block or one line the file allmost dobble is size (as a test I tried in a earlier version of the file - when I pasted in one line the file grew from 800 to 2300kb) I'm working in Autocad 2012 in 2D. In the drawings where is about 3-4 x-refs, no layer filters, a lot of layers (all used), a lot of blocks and a few hatches. I've done purge, -purge, audit, copy/paste into new document, saved in earlier version. Any good ideas out there? Thx!
  2. I found some hatch patterns from a stone supplier (Centurion or Eldorado; don't remember which now) that I really like and want to use. Problem is, using them makes the ACAD files huge- they routinely go from 1 MB without these manufacturer hatch patterns to 12+ MB with. Given that these patterns generally don't look any more complex than, say, the standard GRAVEL hatch pattern or AR-RSHKE, and given that I'm using them at 48 scale for architectural drawings, that seems a bit extreme to me. As an example: AR-RSHKE added to all four elevations as a veneer increased the file size by about 0.3 MB. Using the FIELDSTONE.pat file increases the file size by about 8 MB... Could there be something wrong with these patterns that conflates the file size somehow? If so, is there anything I can do about it? (Using AutoCAD 2014 on a Windows 7 platform)
  3. Hi, I have this 3d file of mine (which i have worked so hard for it), and it's size has increased to 240 Mb's! I assume this has happened due to forced closings and the backup files ... i have already deleted them... but it didn't help. i ant even copy my model into a new work space. please... help me out here! urgent!
  4. Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum and this is my first thread. So here goes: I've developed a dynamic block for a standard bulb flat profile cross section using parametric constraints to alter the sizes of the profile. I also made six visibility states for altering the penetration type of the profile through a construction element. It works like a charm on smaller drawings, but on a typical master sectional drawing the file size increases up to 20 or so MB given to the fact that there are over 4000 copies of the block in the one drawing (the dyn block itself is around 100 KB). This makes the drawing almost impossible to work with as you may well imagine. I uploaded the block if you want to take a look at it. Maybe I'm missing something here because I have searched online for similar problems and found very little occurrences of the same. I tried auditing, -purging, wblock to another file, everything I could find or think of nothing seems to help. Is it just the way it is with files containing so many dynamic blocks or is there a way to make it work. I would appreciate any help on this. HP profile.dwg
  5. I am a contractor that does work for several different companies. When these companies send me their dwg file I have no problem opening them up to edit them, but once I complete my edits and email the file back to them they are telling me that their autocad crashes while trying to open the drawing or the whole computer itself. Most recently I only made a very minor edit to their dwg which was editing two areas of text and still crashes their computer when I send it back. I am using Autocad Lt 2013, while they are using autocad 2010. I backsaved the file as well as purged the drawing after I was finished and still no luck. Also I noticed on another job after doing very minor edits, once I saved the new version, the file size multiplied like ten thousand times its size. Anyone know what may be going on?
