  1. Does anyone know how to update a block already present in a drawing with a block pasted from another drawing. I cannot use insert block with a file named the same as the block in the current drawing because the pasted block (of the same name) contains a visibility parameter that if I explode before inserting loses the parameters. If I insert the same named block within a same named file to the current drawing the drawing holds onto the original block because it is within a block. Am I making sense.... I am hoping there is a work-around this to update the block.
  2. I have a master drawing from which I create smaller, detail-view type drawings. When I copy from the master to create the smaller drawing, several of the blocks (and it's always the same ones) turn invisible. This means, with every new drawing I create, I have to re-insert these blocks to make them reappear. What I mean is that I simply use the insert command, select the block I need to insert, click 'specify on-screen' and click 'ok.' Then without actually placing the block anywhere, I just hit escape and all the blocks of that type reappear. Further, if I move the blocks once they've been re-inserted, they will sometimes go invisible again and I'll have to once again insert that block. And let me explain that by 'invisible' I don't mean that the block has been deleted or the layer is off. The object is there there and can be manipulated. But it virtually disappears from view: it looks like a faint shadow. I'm using autoCAD 2005, but others in my office with different versions encounter the same problem. Any ideas on how to prevent this? It would save some time and annoyance in the long run. Thanks
  3. Hey all, I have a quick question. I apologize if this has already been asked, but I can not find it myself. I have searched other spots, but its hard if the thread does not specifically deal with your question. My problem is, we have a LISP routine at my company. After you get all of the information from the user, it will insert a block in a specific arrangement in a specific amount. Like, insert blah blah blah 3 times downward 1 inch apart. Everything works fine, but the problem is is that the block HAS to be in the drawing, otherwise the routine fails. If you run it while the block is IN the drawing, it runs fine, no problems. Help?! I have scoured different ways to have it insert the blocks, but no combination seems to work. Here is the line for inserting the block, any ideas? (command "insert" "terminal" (polar #pt1 1.570796327 0.125) "" "" "")
