arthall Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I am using AutoCad 2004. I have created a number of icons for additional tools that I have put on the top tool bar. Quite often when I shut my computer down (laptop) and reboot, the new icons are replaced by apparently random icons that were not generated by me. I assume my new icons are not located in the correct directory. In what directory should my personal icons be located? Thanks Quote
ReMark Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Where do you currently store your icons? I would recommend storing the icons in the same folder where your customized menu file is located. Quote
arthall Posted August 27, 2009 Author Posted August 27, 2009 ReMark, Thanks for your reply. Well, this is almost embarrassing. First of all, I find I have icons in 2 subdirectories under my main AutoCAD 2004 directory. These are named “Bitmaps” and “Templates”. Many of the icons (but not all) repeat in both subdirectories. About half of the icons are named “ICON####.bmp”, having a 4 digit number following the ICON. Most of the rest are named “RCDA####.bmp. A few have just a generic name such as “Save As.bmp”. Does the program make a distinction between ICON and RCDA? What does that stand for? This probably results from a number of years of doing this without any guidance. As for my menu files, they are located in a subdirectory named “Support”, which is a sub directory to “UserDataCache” that in turn is a subdirectory of my main AutoCAD 2004 directory. There are currently no .bmp files in that directory. Can you make any sense of this? Thanks Quote
ReMark Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 It could be a pathing issue. Is the location of the folder with the icons in it shown in the Support File Search path? Quote
arthall Posted August 27, 2009 Author Posted August 27, 2009 I had one of those two directories in the Support File Search Path. I just added the other. I will see if this does the trick. By the way, can you tell me the difference between theICON and RCDA prefixes? Thanks again for all the help you and others have provided. Quote
ReMark Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 I have yet to figure out the distinction between the two. Sorry. Quote

The good thing about it is that you can edit the acad.mns. I hope the link below will give you an idea. http://www.markcad.com/autocad/acadtoolbars.htm Quote
