Hatching an odd space?

Hi,

 

I'm trying to hatch this space.

See the space with the blue arrow pointing to it. I don't want the hatch to cover the blue rectange but I want the hatching inside the black area.

 

I've tried "pick points" in the hatch bar but I can't seem to click anywhere with that. I can only hatch rectangles and other pre-made shapes.

 

Any ideas?

If 'Pick Points' doesn't work try 'Select Objects' and use Island detection to refine it. If 'Pick Points' doesn't work I suspect you have a gap in your line work. It may be that it is difficult to see. Run the fillet command on all corners and make sure your lines are actually extended into the pitched roof and try it again.

 

Your other option is to draw a closed pline around the area you want to hatch and then either pick inside the area you want hatched or select the objects as I stated previously.
