julimor Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 I'm trying to use the stair feature from the architectural palette in MEP 2008. I set width, tread, height, justify and click on the start point then click on the end point. No matter what I've tried the program wants me to continue to some other point. It's just a simple start and end, straight run from one level to the next. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Julie Quote

Then you will need to set your height, and riser numbers. Quote
julimor Posted December 3, 2009 Author Posted December 3, 2009 Thank you Noahma. That worked. But I now have an issue with the riser height. It's too short and the tool creates too many stairs. After entering in all the information it automatically calculated 16 stairs (I need 15) and a riser of 6-21/32". The properties won't let me change either. It also left me 2" short of the top and entering in the correct height defaulted right back to the old height. I hate when a program thinks it knows more than you! Julie EDIT: Sorry for being a pest but I was able to figure it out. Quote

Julie EDIT: Sorry for being a pest but I was able to figure it out. he he. what you will need to do is go into your stair style properties (select the stair, right click and choose "edit stair style" or similar) The there should be a tab to where the calculations are. I would turn off the formula, set your min., desired, and max heights. Next, when you are looking at the properties palette, there should be a little icon to the right of one of the settings near riser height. This will open a worksheet where you can set the risers by any number of things IE riser height, riser number, etc. The stair tool is not the easiest to master, but once you get the hang of it, and know its quirks it becomes second nature.
