kippax
At college we were taught that if we were emailing a drawing to a client/customer it was always preferable to do this by using eTransmit rather than simply sending the .dwg file. What are the differences and are there any security issues with one over the other ?
NBC
The main difference is that by using etransmit, AutoCAD will collate all font styles, plot styles, pen tables, external references (including images, etc) into a nice easy package so that the recipient can more readily open the drawing at their end and it will look (and plot) exactly the same as it does at your end. if you just send the dwg file, they may be missing some of the above, and therefore it may not display and/or plot how it is intended to do so. kippax
Cheers for the rapid response. Much as I suspected, but wasn't aware it included the X-Ref and that's useful to know.
