Download or Upload? Are you trying to upload an image to attach to your post?

What type of image is it? What is the file size and image size?

Things to bear in mind

The maximum image size allowed is 800px wide and 600px high**

The maximum file size allowed is 250KB

The maximum number of attachments allowed in one post is 12

The only image file formats supported are GIF, JPG and PNG

Don't waste your time. I just tried to upload an image and I got the same message "Upload of file failed". We will have to wait for the Admin to look into this issue.

I saw your post yesterday Cad64 and figured this problem would be sorted out by this morning but that is apparently not the case. Just tried uploading three jpgs a minute ago and all three failed. Time now on the east coast of the U.S. is 7:01 a.m.

We had a similar problem at Cadtutor a while back. It started happening right after an upgrade to the software. The problem was being caused by the PHP memory_limit variable. Once the settings were adjusted there were no more problems. We also increased the maximum allowable image size.

I've sent a PM to CadTutor, so hopefully this issue will be resolved shortly.

I was aware of this issue on another domain and have been trying to solve it all morning. Now that I know it is affecting all domains on this server, I have a better chance of solving it. I'm onto it now and will report back when I have some news.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Worked for me too. Uploaded three images to include in one post.

Looks like the problem has been solved for the time being.

Thank you David.

What was the nature of the glitch? Could it happen again?

My hosting company were upgrading software on the server and somehow, the temp folder setting in php.ini became reset. It's a one-off and unlikely to recur. Thanks to all for the help in flagging this up and reporting back.
