CAD-LOVER0208 Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Hello... I have a question, I think it’s easy, but I can’t figure it out… Ok, I have to figure out the areas in my Warehouse Floor plan…. They are all in metric.. they are in m2.. and I have to change them to mm and draw them.. My problem is, I don’t know how to figure that out.. I know how to convert m2 to mm2 and m to mm, but the real problem that I’m facing, is, how can I draw the area in AutoCAD, I don’t have length and width, I only have the area in square meters… Can someone help me pleassssse ?? Here are some examples : 600 m2 , 190 m2, 156 m2, 311 m2, 400 m2, 200 m2, 235 m2 Ok let say that 200 m2 is 10x20 and here is a box, what about the others ??? Please help me ASAP … I know some of you may say : you are retarded this is easy… Well I know it’s easy if someone teach it to me …. Thanks in advance Quote
dbroada Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 basically, you can't. There are an infinite number of ways to get an area. You need 2 of length, width & area to be able to create it. Do you have a layout showing the shapes in place? From that you might be able to guess at the proportions which can give you a start. Quote
Rob-GB Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 If you just want square areas use the Square Root function on your calculator. √160 = 12.6491 An area 12.6491 metres by 12.6491 metres is 160 m² Hope this helps. Rob Quote
CAD-LOVER0208 Posted September 21, 2008 Author Posted September 21, 2008 hello, thanks for the reply.. I actually sketched it but not to scale.. but in CAD i can't get the shape and the right size to make it fit in my property.. we have specific areas limit.. 8640 m2... so that's why i'm trying to figure out each area, which is in m2 and i have to change it to mm then figure out the area. that is no problem, but as i said how to get the length and width of that m2... i know Dave said i can't do that... I tried to scan my sketch but my scanner was acting crazy, anyways i also tried to work with paint program and i made a simple drawing just to show u what i mean... i did them by eye and by the structural bay width and length.. 10 000 mm = 10 m Quote
dbroada Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 OK, that's a start. It looks like you have 2 rows, each 20m high so you can work out the widths from that. As you have shown, your 400m^2 is 20m x 20m. Your 190m^2 can then become 190/20 = 9,5m (or 9500mm) etc. The AutoCAD command I would use is RECTANGLE and draw each box in turn. The move them using ENDPOINT OSNAPs and you should be able to arrange a plan. Quote
Tiger Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Don't if, but THIS method to draw rectangles with area and one lenght might help. And I must say, this sounds like one of those puzzles where you have eight-ten different shapes and need to fit them together to make a square... I always sucked at it Quote
dbroada Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 thanks Tiger, I keep forgetting that option. (you beter?) Quote
Tiger Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Me too, I've never used it myself but I remeber reading about it here a while ago and I keep wondering if I'll find a suitable use for it some day. Still coughing but I'm sipping hot tea (without whiskey) and wearing my scarf so it would be worse Quote
RichterGMC Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Just go to http://www.onlineconversions.com and it will convert anything you like Quote
CAD-LOVER0208 Posted September 22, 2008 Author Posted September 22, 2008 Thanks Dave and Tiger. your ways helped a lot.. i'm just playing now with the shapes to fit them in the right area we've been asked to have. and thank you RichterGMC for the link, it's just GREAT, everything i need it's IN THERE... i love it... thanks all again i'm still working on my plan... Take care.. Quote
