ReMark Posted August 8, 2011 Share Posted August 8, 2011 Well there is a less subtle way of doing it. Make a copy of the solid. Scale it to something like 98% of the original. I had the same trouble in couple years and I noticed my model was create to far from origin and its units is millimeter. To solve my problem I used scale command to change its scale and editing solid worked again. So I do the same thing with your roof and shell works. For the exposed case, it was a plan of house drawn in the mm and geolocalisation with the site about X: 1500000 Y: 5200000 Z: 196000. That's why I had the reflexe to make the same thing with the roof because I measured a door which mesuring 1200 drawing units. I've yet to actually do anything with materials as my line of work does not require renderings. What kind of tile roof did you have in mind? A Spanish tile? ReMark Posted August 10, 2011 Share Posted August 10, 2011 I'd call that a slate roof not a tile roof. Slate roofs are flat like the roof in your image. A tile roof, as I know it, is a tapered curve. Maybe the fact that we are two countries separated by a common language might explain the difference. Getting back to your tile roof I think this would be ideally suited to be handled as a material.
