Menu Drop Down Menue Blocks

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I did some work experiance in an Architect firm for a while a year or so ago. While there I noticed that they used the menu bar, then drop down and fly outs to choose doors and windows. You could then specify the type of window or door and amount of windows e.g. in a bay window, and select where you wanted to place it on the plan and the program would automatically plot it for you.

Could I get some help as to how I could go about getting this menu in autocad 2011, or if anyone knows the name of it so I can search it on the net myself.

Anty help will be appreciated very much.

Thanks

Perhaps they had AutoCad Architecture (or even Revit?)?

No it was definatley Autocad. It was a tool to help us to place building features into plans and elevations much more quickly.

It may have been their own Architecture add on developed in house, I know about doing this. Alternative was that it was just a place blocks menu system you can do this via Tool palletes.

The menus know doubt have a lot of detail hidden behind it and now the bad news depending on your relation ship with the other company they will either give you a copy, sell you a copy or politely send you on your way. Any company that spends money developing shortcuts is unlikely to just give it away they will not want the opposition to have an edge.

It could have been an add-on product developed by a third-party company such as the manufacturer of a particular door/window like Marvin, Pella or Anderson (or the equivalent European or Asian counterpart).

For example, Anderson Windows offers their add-on called Anderson Window Studio to professionals (architects and designers). View this link...
