beernuts Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Hi everyone, first time posting here. I'm using AutoCAD 2011 and here is the situtation. I create a viewport. I zoom in to the scale I want to use. Once setup i click out into paperspace all is good. However if i do not lock the viewport, the moment i click back on it, the viewport automaticly zooms extents and screws up what i was trying to show . Is there a setting somewhere that should be set from 1 to 0 or a box not checked off that i'm missing? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Quote
ReMark Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Why aren't you locking the viewport display once it is setup? Quote
CyberAngel Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Welcome to the forum! It's a good idea to lock the viewport once you have it the way you want it, as ReMark suggests. It's also a good idea to check the UCSFOLLOW variable. Quote
beernuts Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 I agree, locking them is a good idea and I do so relgiously. However I work for a company that the techicians don't all do it consistently enough, and it makes making minor adjustments to viewport with a 'pan' command impossible. This automatic extent scaling is an issue i've noticed only lately that i didn't have to deal with before. Before this issue if the viewport wasn't locked it was no big deal so long as i didn't zoom in or out. It kept the viewport scale without problem. This also allowed someone to adjust a viewport with the 'pan' command without moving the viewport boundry in paperspace, which for me has been great as I clip my viewports excessively. CyberAngel, I tried the UCSFOLLOW variable with no effect. Thanks though. Quote
rkent Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 beernuts, The viewport has to be active before calling that command. Quote
beernuts Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 Ah, now it worked. Thanks! Question is, is there a global setting that will fix all current viewports? Nevermind. Once the variable is set from 1 to 0 all Future viewport will not have that problem. I'll just have to adjust the existing viewports to match. Thanks folks for all the help! Quote
ReMark Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 There are lisp routines that will lock/unlock all viewports in a drawing. Quote
