Cadio
Hello, this is my first time here. So I saw that this forum could help me, because currently I am not able to install AutoCAD 2012 Student Edition (?) properly. First of all, When i start installing (after the install button and the destination for installation), after it completes .NET Framework Runtime 4.0, the computer restarts. After it restarts, nothing happens. When I try installing again, It does the same thing, and restarts my computer. I've tried repairing .NET Framework Client Profile, and it said that it repaired successfully. I'm not sure if this is the problem, but this is what i get right now. Is there any way to fix this? thanks. I really want to try this new 3D modelling software out.
Organic
Are you installing it from a disc or did you download the installation file? Either way, perhaps try re downloading it from the Autodesk website and trying again. What are your computer specs? If it is anything from the past 2 to 3 years though it should easily be able to run it.
ReMark
When you did the .NET Framework repair were you following AutoDesk's recommended procedure?

This computer is one month old. My computer's specs meet the recommended specs. Specs: OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Processor: i7 2nd Gen (Intel Core i7-2630QM) RAM: 8GB DirectX Version: DirectX11 GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6770M Series what else do i need When you did the .NET Framework repair were you following AutoDesk's recommended procedure? I went to control panel -> uninstall programs -> repair. What is the recommended procedure?
ReMark
REPAIR does NOT address .NET Framework issues. Is that all you did in regards to .NET so far? Read this re: AutoCAD 2012 and .NET Framework. http://blog.jtbworld.com/2011/04/autocad-2012-and-net-framework-40.html

ReMark
Maybe you should uninstall AutoCAD first. Then install .NET Framework 4 followed by reinstalling AutoCAD. Are you getting any error messages? If so what do they say? Have you emptied the TEMP folder? Have you run Windows Update to make sure your OS is current? Have you turned off your firewall and antivirus program prior to installing .NET 4? Edited November 1, 2011 by ReMark
Cadio
I never had AutoCAD installed in the first place, and I don't get proper error messages. Sometimes, my computer restarts and pretends nothing happened, and some other times it says installation failed and shows me a log. The log shows that .NET Framework installation failed. (it just says .NET Framework Install FAILED... Ignoring failure) My OS is updated, and I've had problems with .NET 4 before too, (which is currently fixed... i hope) and now is working up to the standard (no bugs whatsover)
ReMark
And you have an event log that proves, without a doubt, the NET Framework and the Framework Client are both installed? Then you should be good to go with installing AutoCAD 2012 just as the link I posted earlier mentions.
CNatka
As you are stating problem is very much context specific. You should uninstall the .net framework, Clear the temp location. restart the system. (Assuming that no virus infection is there on your system) install the .net framework with the recommended procedure. restart the system. and then install the AutoCAD 2012(Make sure the architecture (32 bit or 64 bit) is same as the OS on which you are playing). If still it fails then once you can try 2011(It will give you an idea about failure is system specific or some other issues causing it). -CNatka
