Oh, and Jack, thanks for confirming my first issue...and naming the layer for it's intended purpose would be like ...umm...yeah.

you'd be surprised how many people don't do that. I get drawings all the time from people who's layers start out with "anno-domini-xxx-yyy-zzz-gobledygook-nonsense" that you can never decipher without the company's standards manual, and when you do, none of what is supposed to be on that layer is actually there.

Since I'm the boss, the worker, and the cad manager, I actually do a very good job of maintaining consistent cad standards on all my work, even if it will never be shared with anybody. It boils down to taking pride in anything I do, no matter who it's for.

I came across a drawing today where everything was on layer 0 and it was a complicated drawing file that could have had 50+ layers easily if done properly. It is useless as it is impossible to tell what is actually what (not annotated enough either).

Yup. One of my clients has a draftsman that does that. Everything on layer zero, every block exploded, text, lines, dims, all the same color, same layer. After a while, you can get used to it.
