Tankman
Welcome to the forums killerbytes! As nocturne00 states, "Get experience first..." If you know AutoCAD, get some knowledge 'bout architectural and engineering. You will need to know the subject and then express it in AutoCAD. Tiger
Why not just apply, don't lie in your application and see what happens? If they take you based on what you DO know, then there's no problem

The best thing to do is definitely practice, look online for tutorials and also a list of local schools/community colleges that offer some type of drafting program... best of luck! I know how to use autocad. What I need is real materials/projects to practice my skills as what real autocad draftsman do in their work. Applying for work locally is not possible since I am in a small town. I can only practice autocad in my free time while I manage my own small business. @dumfatnhappy May I know the name of your old firm? Thanks for your replies. Requesting for such files is not as easy as it looks since all companies have strict policies on these files as both Material and Intellectual property, Release of such documents is a breach of any Non-disclosure Agreement that an employee has signed. Havent you found any Sample Plans in Google?

Havent you found any Sample Plans in Google? I got samples from google but they are not complete. Some don't have schedules for their doors and windows. I have problems getting their dimensions.
