i can delete the drawing but not the name??

Posted

Welcome to the forum.

Do you mean a .dwg file?

In order to delete a drawing and the name it will need to be closed first.

Then it shouldn't be a problem.

Are you deleting it with your right click menu?

If not, how are you trying to delete it?

where is the name still showing up ? if you deleted the drawing then the name would also go ?

The only place where I can think that the name is still present is the list with recent opened files. Just wait until you will open other files in editor, it will disappear.

Or is about the BAK file? If the file appear in Windows Explorer, and you don’t have extensions shown, then do a right-click on file’s name and check his type. Since you don’t need anymore the DWG file, then may remove the BAK one as well.

Good thinking Mircea, I bet you are correct, and the OP is talking about the recently opened files list!

old files do sometimes remain visible in the "OPEN" dialogue box if you are deleting from there. An F5 will update that box if necessary.
