Changing co-ordinates within model space

Greetings from a newcomer and hopefully thanks in advance!

 

I'm having a small problem with some drawings that have been sent to me for setting out on site. Basically I have 3 separate sets of drawings from architects and engineers, all of the same building but all using a different co-ordinate system. I know that the engineers is using the correct grid for my setting out but unfortunately I only have it in pdf. so I can't copy and paste layers from the other drawings into it.

 

Is there a way that I can alter the co-ordinates of the other 2 drawings in model space to shift them to the correct grid system?

One recommended way to do this is to use external references.

 

Create an empty drawing. Check the INSBASE variable, which specifies whether inserted items are offset, and make sure it's set to 0,0,0. Insert the PDF overlay at 0,0,0 with rotation 0, since it's correct. Insert the other drawings. If you have a benchmark or other common point, use that to line up the xrefs with the PDF. Another tool is the Align command, which lets you specify two or three corresponding points and then moves the xref into the correct position.

 

You can now manipulate the layers of the xrefed drawings at will. Check the VISRETAIN variable to make sure your settings will be saved along with the drawing.

Thanks for the assistance! In the end I managed to badger the engineer into providing me with an autocad drawing set to the survey control grid then used the Move command to set the others to the same grid. 'Align' seems to be an unknown command in AutoCad LT, which I'm running. I'm just incredibly rusty at Cad and have forgotten most of what I learnt 17 years ago! I think I survived on Pan, Zoom, List and Id up until now. Unfortunately the new set of designers I deal with just seem to love PDF.
