bm23
I want to draw a floor plan and then extrude it afterwards to form a base. Is there a way to do that easily? I can only think of using spline and then using keyboard entry, ie, key in all coordinates of vertices.
Cad64
You can do that by drawing splines as you mentioned, but I would probably start with a plane that's big enough to cover the entire floor plan, convert to editable poly and then just add edge segments as necessary and move the vertices around to the required coordinate locations. It's just a matter of which method you prefer. I prefer to poly model most objects but splines are also useful.
BIGAL
Re key in vertices try this have your co-ords as x,y say in notepad just highlite them and use the normal copy or Ctrl+C Inside Autocad say PLine when it ask for first point put cursor on command line and press Ctrl+v all lines should appear then C. Then say extrude ?
Cad64
He's using Studio Max, not Autocad.
bm23
Thanks for the replies. @Cad64 I took up your suggestion on the poly plane, though I still had to key in coordinates but overall, it only took me a couple of minutes
