I have 2 questions.

1. Can Solidworks files be saved as dwg. files?

2.Can Inventor files be converted to 2D files in AutoCAD 2011?

I am pretty sure SolidWorks can export to dwg. I used to work for a casework company and our SW guy could send me dwg files so I would think that it could.

Inventor can save as a dwg but not sure about the 2D part of it. Could always use Solprof to make 2D view of the model in AutoCAD. If it is a 3D solid in Acad you could use flatshot on it as well.

JD or a few other guys can give more info.

There may be a better way, but for Inventor, a 3D model can be opened 2D in Autocad in this manner. Create a .idw in Inventor, set the view you want, then save it as a AutoCAD.dwg file. Then you can open up the .dwg in autoCAD and it will be the 2d view you set up in Inventor...

You could probably use the free version INVENTOR FUSION to do that.

Thank you all for your help. I will have the drawings sent to me and play around with them.
